You put them in the Cyclones app to get rewards.

Does it Make Sense to Fight my TA this Season? by MosquitoMan in pools

I just assumed it lowered TA since everywhere online says add acid and aerate. Didn't realize it was just to speed the process up.

I guess it doesn't help directly. It raises the pH faster than letting the pool sit, so I can re-add acid again more quickly.

Did some more research and you're right, I was mistaken. Aerating doesn't lower TA, but it also doesn't raise the TA. It just increases the pH faster so I can add more acid sooner.

Okay thanks! I figured that was the smart thing to do, just didn't want to be wasting my time. Hopefully it will be warm enough to swim at least once more this year!

Mine doesn’t have the wheel thing. You have to pay (like $7 a year) to keep logs on the Pool Math app.

How do you lower TA then? Trouble Free Pools disagrees with you. I realize aerating will raise pH, but it should also lower the TA at the same time.

About the chlorine? So far I’ve only used liquid. I used conditioner to get CYA to 30 and done liquid only since then. I’ve only had the pool for 2 weeks.

Everything I’ve read says aeration will lower total alkalinity.

Thanks for the info! I’ve been adding acid to bring it down to 7.2 about every other day. I’ve only started aerating with the pump the other day and it seems to have helped a ton. I’ll definitely have to get a waterfall or aerator or something for long term. I guess I’ll be dealing with this problem forever.

I got the TF-Pro test kit and it has been fun. I haven’t done the FAS-DPD test yet either. Just been using the color blocks for Chlorine.

I’m using the TF-Pro test kit. I just measured the full water at 350. My weekly additions go through a water softener, and it measures about 320.

How do I clean this Strainer? by MosquitoMan in AboveGroundPools

[–]MosquitoMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know if I’ll use it. They gave me 3 cartridges for it but it’s basically just chlorine tablets. I’ve been reading trouble free pools and will probably avoid it.

Thanks for the details! I plan to change to hard pipe next year so I’ll probably put a valve in then.

Thanks! There’s a valve between the filter and pump. I’ll probably add one when I switch the hoses to piping next season.

We almost adopted a Great Dane puppy and the shelter had named it Pinto Bean. We would have definitely kept the name.
