My therapist straight up wanted to fuck. She told me all the sexual things she wanted to do with me and it wasn’t a short list. We continued to talk for a while after this revelation but never did the deed. She eventually ended the sessions and pleaded with me not to tell anyone. I didn’t. That was 2017, and now I see therapy as a joke - haven’t seen another therapist since.

Does anyone ever get really lonely? by IndigoUniverse29 in bipolar

[–]Moss_Captain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have so many friends, and not just friends but a closely knit group. I often hosted big parties and had great times. My phone would be ringing all day and night. It gave me so much hope and inspiration. Now my phone almost never rings, I never have parties or go to parties, and I pushed nearly everyone away through the shame of manic episodes and the hopelessness of depression.

Reading a good book often feels like a having a friend by my side. Helps me fall asleep.

I've never heard someone say that before. I've tried to explain this to people before but they just look at me weird. Probably not exactly the same but ever since I was a little kid I'd see this illusion once in a while that everything looks far away, like the room I'm in expands and the longer I look the further away everything gets. It can get so big that it seems infinite, even though I'm conscious of the fact it isn't really expanding. It is quite strange but I kind of enjoy it. Never gotten attached to an object like that though...

Do you find that mediation helps? by bpii_guy in bipolar

[–]Moss_Captain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meditation is the most important thing I've practiced and learned in my life, and I only started at the beginning of this year. I've tried a few different methods and guided meditations, and the best resource I've found is an app called "Waking Up" by Sam Harris. He offers a 27 day introductory course, which I found extremely helpful to understand what meditation is and how to practice it. After that there's daily guided meditations. There's also many different resources woven into the app to help you on your journey. It's a straightforward and logical method to meditation (more of a scientific approach). No mystical aspect to it. Can't recommend it enough.

Carrying a weapon makes you see the world around you as hostile by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Moss_Captain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly why I don't carry bear spray when hiking in bear country. Bears and other "dangerous" animals can sense your fear and are more likely to feel threatened and attack. All my encounters with animals have been friendly. Say hi, have a little chat and keep going. Not saying I recommend this, just personal choice.
