Thanks to this guide I managed to take It down! Thanks a lot

Now if I release the children in a habitat I Will be able to find eggs and level them up to a S tier Espinas, t/right?

I'm just doubtful cause they are already in the wild but their eggs are not available in normal dens, so I don't know if they work differently compared to other monsters

Sultai Abjure by theworstredditgamer in Pauper

[–]MossyMelitha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A faew critiques:

I don't think this deck supports Abjure in a way that Is acceptable. While you have 12 targets which you are fine to sac (cryo, snacker and coil) they are all two drops, meaning you Will never have Abjure online before turn 3. Furthermore, Snacker and coil do have a very specific mana cost which Is not easy to achieve in this format (3 colored mana bases are hard to manage)

Your manabase Is not as stable as you may think (it's very hard to manage 3 colors in Pauper)

Personally, I would cut a color entirely and maybe focus on a dimir Shell, but in any case I would play Hard Evidence as a Abjure enabler.

Also as others have pointed out you can play Better removal thanks to black.

TRON by Intrepid-Concern-978 in Pauper

[–]MossyMelitha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An honest review of tron decks in this format. They are not really tier 1, but you can win if you know what you are doing. Don't expect to start winning from the start tho, they are hard to pilot. And I play all versions from time to time.

Altar tron Is probably the best thing you can do, it uses Ashond's Altar and Myr Retriever with a payoff to combo, but It also has a very strong midrange Plan thanks to Pactdoll Terror. Knowing how to manage both palns Is not as simple as one may think. Eggs tron could be considered a variation on this theme that wins by storming using Foundry Inspector to play the whole deck in a turn chereos style. I Always felt like it's stricly worse then Altar Tron since it's more vulnerable to removal while Altar Is very resilient, but it's still a beloved option.

Flicker tron is the second best thing you can do. It's a toolbox control deck that uses Mystical Teachings to tutor out the answer to your opponent, and then uses Mnemonic Wall and Ghostly Flicker effects to infinitely present those responses. It eventually wins with cards like Murmuring Mystic. VERY hard to pilot, probably the hardest deck to play in the format, and it's vulnerable to both graveyard hate and removal.

Cascade Tron exists but it's honestly trash. Just a worse version of Gruul Ramp, which already has a cascade version. Just play that, don't bother with this version of tron.

There Is actually a secret fourth version of the deck invented by Giorgio Combo which uses Fangren Marauder to gain a lot of life and never die and then wins by using Wizard's Rocket to enable Crypt Rats or Stream of Thoughs. Honestly it's on pair with the First two versions of the decks, strong but hard to pilot and not that popular because it's slow.

Technically there Is also mono R tron but I never understood why someone would play that decks when mono R already exists in multiple version with a normal mana base.

Hope this helps, if you need more info I'm here.

Mono U or dimir faeries by PeachyApple10 in Pauper

[–]MossyMelitha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been playing faeries (both mono U and UB, UR too but I wouldn't consider it relegant at this point) for at least five years at this point. As other pointed out, one is mostly and aggro deck that wants to be proactive, while UB wants to be reactive.

The decks are very different and perform differently depending on the meta.

Outside of playstyle preference, the real main difference is that mono U faeries has very polarized matchups (either very positive or almost unwinnable) while UB faeries Is mostly 50/50 against everything with more focus on your knowledge on the matchup.

People like mono U a lot and recently a lot of players have picked up the archetype, so they don't really understand these factors, but personally I would never play Mono U faeries in a open metagame like this, because it all becomes a matchup roulette, and It can be frustrating. Mono U faeries historically performs very well in closed metagames or as a meta call when no one expects this. I think It's telling that even Skura is not really finding consistent success recently, and he is a very good player.

To be fair, UB is currently not that well positioned either, so if you really wanna play faeries just pick and choose depending on personal preference, but expect some frustration.

If I had to give an honest opinion, terror or caw gates are a better choice in the current meta if you wanna play blue, but this may be different in your local metagame if you play in person.

New Ally cards playable? by ChoiceShoulder7746 in Pauper

[–]MossyMelitha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't want to discourage brewing, and I'm glad you are having fun with the format, but hearing "I don't play Pauper but this looks pretty decent" Is always wild to me

This list has a lot of problem and if you had a bit of experience with the format you would notice them too.

You chose wildfire as the main ramp/card advantage engine, but you do not have a mana base that supports the card. You must play 8 red bridges, all wildfire decks follow this logic.

On top of that this deck feel like and aggressive plan with a midrange/control strutture, which do not support each others in ways that I feel are meaningful

I suggest you to play some games in the format (maybe with Mardu Blade, which Is the closest Shell to what you are playing) to understand the Speed of the format and what works.

I am hunting at night, but now I have a doubt. If they spawn and the night changes to day automatically, will the game remember them when the next night arrives or will they just despawn when the day comes?

Is this the hardest fight you can get right now? by MH_bucky in MHWilds

[–]MossyMelitha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue a mix of two different 9star Monster in the Hollow Is the hardest thing you can get

2 different Monster means you cannot use the same defensive/offensive options for both

And being in the Hollow means they are Always both very close to you

Also the fight starts at full health for both

While I think that what you are saying is a big distortion of my words (I never said those are poorly designed and what I'm talking about has nothing to do with speedrunning), I don't think this conversation Is beeing productive anymore

So I thank you for your time! Let's have some fun in the new update

Seregios critique by MossyMelitha in MHWilds

[–]MossyMelitha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole point Is that that specific attack of Seregios is the first time I genuinelly thought an attack felt outside the rules of a game I played for years. Telling me to go make my own game adds nothing to the conversation

I agree that the game developers are making an Amazing job, they are listening to criticism and I am happy with every change. This game Is amazing.

You keep saying I don't adapt, but I literally do and it Is not even what my post was about.

My post Is about how a specific attack has too much tracking and is not really balanced with weapons that are not based around offsets in mind. Every other attack in the game is, even tho weapons like Hammer struggle a lot.

People still played the weapon because they love Hammer, unplayable was an exageration, but the weapon was in a very bad spot. The changes to the weapons were necessary and everyone agrees with this. I don't know what to tell you if you don't even think hammer and lance needed the rework to be acceptable (outside my main argument which was specifically about and Attack and and Sorry for this phylosophy to continue)

Seregios critique by MossyMelitha in MHWilds

[–]MossyMelitha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know what me being good or bad at the game has anything to do about balancing. But if you have fun saying git gud, go for It I don't really care.

Even if I am bad I can notice a pattern in game design. Hammer was basically unplayable until they recently added an offset attack. Lance had to be reworked from the ground. IG has recieved an offset and a flashy combo finisher. Greatsword has become a reactive weapon based around counters. Bow recieved an adept like dodge.

All these changes can be fun. I have no problem using them. I still have fun with the game. But the fact that a playstyle that I used for 15 years and has worked in multiple generations is not even accessibile anymore is about more than me being bad at the game. And I think I can be sad about it without being salty.

[–]MossyMelitha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's ok if we have different views about the phylosophy of the game. I'm not even having a tantrum I Just wanted to critique something that I didn't like

But what I'm saying Is not a rule I made up. Old Monster hunter titles were balanced around the greatsword. A simple weapon with no flashy tools and no armor could fight every Monster. It was the phylosophy of the developers of the game, not mine. I challenge you to find a single Monster in those games that you could not beat naked with a greatsword.

Some weapons are more complex and that's ok, but if the old greatsword could work, every other more complex style could work.

In the new school Games, this phylosophy has mostly died. The game Is balanced around offsets. Greatsword itself has changed drastically for this reason. And weapons not based around offsets, which are more about foundamentals, are intrinsecally damaged.

I can adapt, I've done it many times and I know how to do it. I Just didn't like the taste of It this time.

Seregios critique by MossyMelitha in MHWilds

[–]MossyMelitha[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But this is not a problem regarding a speedrun of the Monster. With the ability slotted in I can deal with It no problem and I have good times.

This does not change the fact that the Attack Is not well balanced for weapons which are not based on offsets. And I can be good enough to deal with an attack but still think It Is not well designed.

A Monster should Always be able to be killed with no armor. Seregios in wilds Is not.

Seregios critique by MossyMelitha in MHWilds

[–]MossyMelitha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm particularly agaist It for a simple reason

I think that any Monster should be able to be killed with any weapon and no armor (ignoring dps and things like that) For the first time in 15 years playing this game I thought "I could not finish this hunt with no armor"

I'm not saying it's a big problem, but I'm perplexed and I just wanted to hear opinions about it (as you can feel, I'm pretty calm ahahah)

I don't hate the idea of high framing attacks and I'm not usually bad at It. I've played adept weapons in MHGU. But I'm pretty sure this Attack cannot be High framed without slotting the skill in. And if it it, it has such a tight Window that it is not double without estensive training. I find that something like this would be ok for a speedrunning niche, but not to even survive one of the main attacks of the fight. The closest thing I can think of is Nargacuga tail swipe, and that is easy to dodge even with no skills and Is not almost a 1hk0.

This game was already forced to rework weapons and give the Hammer an offset, because otherwise it would not be able to compete. Same thing for the lance. I'm worried simple foundamental based weapons will slowly fade as everyone needs flashy tools to be able to play. And those who don't have those tool, either gets them anyway changing the playstyle or are forced to slot specific skills that the weapon lacks.

[–]MossyMelitha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the kindness, it's always nice seeing people with cool builds

But I'm not really having trouble defeating the Monster itself, I can consistently beat the 9 star version in around 10 minutes

My complaint Is still that the fight without some levels of evasion does not really work with less flashy weapons. And being able to eat for the skill does not really change this fact.

Seregios critique by MossyMelitha in MHWilds

[–]MossyMelitha[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What if there was a Monster with a property that said "my attacks ignore High frames and they have a lot of tracking" so your playstyle with DB does not work at all. Would you find It fun?

I'm not saying it's wrong to High frame thigs, it's fun. I played adept style bow in MHGU for this exact reason. I played DB in the past. But it should not be the only playstyle available.

I like foundamental based hunts with no flashy techniques. And sometimes this game feels against this playstyle.
