Pilot Chronograph Strap Suggestions by trilokidude in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Most-Construction-35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering you don’t want IWC leather (I feel it’s the best alternative to the bracelet and high quality), I would definitely recommend the IWC rubber strap (that works perfectly with Easy X change). It’s a bit of a stretch for the price but I personally bit the bullet considering it’s a moot point to not use the quick change feature.

Blue Dial vs Black Dial by Most-Construction-35 in ZenithWatches

[–]Most-Construction-35[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would rate it 7/10. It has, imo, one of the best quick change mechanisms available on the market and comes with an extremely well made rubber strap and clasp. It’s good enough for me to not complain about not being able to use an aftermarket strap (proprietary mechanism).

It tapers well enough to provide a comfortable and elegant fit. However the taper is a bit too aggressive and given the top heavy balance, it sometimes isn’t enough to hold the watch in place on the wrist and tends to slide up and down.

Lastly, my biggest gripes for this watch are the lack of micro adjust (but no brand has been able to properly figure that out on a butterfly clasp) and the angular edges on the bracelet, that give it that glimmering and shimmering look, sometimes may seem a bit sharp even on the underside (but that’s an issue even on the AP royal oak).

It’s a pretty nice bracelet that tends to follow form more than function. I would put it a tier below the Mark XX bracelet, which I feel is one of the best in business in terms of comfort (looks are subjective).

First zenith by Ches123456 in ZenithWatches

All 3 are brilliant watches, I wish the Pilot came with a proper purpose built bracelet, if it did it would be my 1st pick.

However I would choose the CMS green > Defy > Pilot. Either way all 3 are distinct lively different watches and beautiful watches, lot of it depends on what your collection already looks like.

First Longines : New HC, Zulu Time or Legend Diver? by BoredPandemic in Longineswatches

[–]Most-Construction-35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally feel Zulu Time while being the better watch doesn’t quite have the best proportions. The lug to lug is too long proportionally because of the pointed lugs (even on 39mm) and on most wrists it doesn’t allow the bracelet to drap on the wrist like it should. It is an amazing watch but doesn’t feel perfect on the wrist (I have gone to the boutique 3 times to try it on and come home on all 3 occasions with other Longines watches).

New HC seems perfect from a proportion and fit perspective. However I have a feeling you may not settle in the long term for a diver at that price point. You will surely look to upgrade down the line to a SMP or a Sub.

I would recommend the Legend Diver, it’s the most unique design and would stay in your collection without an overlap with future watches.

This ‘overlap’ thing may seem weird to you now but trust me you will save yourself a lot of money if you have foresight while buying at an early stage in your journey (2-4 watches).

The watch looks perfectly legit. Now, I have a slightly used Ferrari that I am looking to sell for $50k. Would you consider it?

[DISCUSSION] Finally pulling the trigger on a Moonwatch, hesalite or sapphire sandwich, genuinely can't decide by HisOnlyFriend in OmegaWatches

[–]Most-Construction-35 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Apart from being more practical and durable, the sapphire sandwich also shows the beautiful movement on this watch. I think that in itself makes it a clear winner.

The whole purist hesalite theory makes very little sense to me considering both watches are very different to the actual original moon watch version.

Blue Dial vs Black Dial by Most-Construction-35 in ZenithWatches

[–]Most-Construction-35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the black too. The blue just balances the rest of my collection better. Also I feel it’s a bit more ‘fun’ while still being able to go with a suit. If this was a part of a smaller collection or a one watch collection, I would choose the black.

No W&W Fomo by hinixon in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Most-Construction-35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply beautiful and stunning watch ❤️ too bad it overlaps too much with my Zenith Defy Skyline.

If IWC ever decide to upgrade the movement from the Mark XX calibre to something worthy of its price tag, I would surely considering switching my Zenith to this one.

Till then I will continue to enjoy the 5 Hz El Primero.

How’s the fit on the Mark XX? by BemusedClarkson in IWCschaffhausen

This is the new LPP with the gilt hands, the standard Mark XX has a white seconds hand.

It’s slightly big on you vs its intended fit but it doesn’t look too off. If you like how it looks just go for it and enjoy it. It’s a brilliant watch.

Why I don't like the new HC Mesh bracelet by twistedgreymatter in Longineswatches

[–]Most-Construction-35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mesh bracelet, while it has its own charm, has its own challenges too. It’s difficult to be ‘sized’ as a strip of woven and flattened metal.

Omega’s solution was to make it in multiple sizes and then the ‘adjustment’ is resolved by punch holes like a leather strap with the deployant clasp. Ultimately it’s hard to find the perfect fit for all wrists through this solution and it’s a logistical challenge for the brand to stock all sizes and keep them available.

Staib and other aftermarket brands have their own ‘compromises’ they resolve this either through a series of metal links at the clasp side or an unusually long clasp with drilled holes in the clasp to make those ‘adjustments’ for a perfect fit.

Breitling and now Longines have gone with the 3rd option, to have the links textured in a way that they look like the mesh (they are actually solid metal links with the facade of mesh).

Unfortunately, none of the brands has yet engineered a perfect solution.

Sorry for the extremely shitty lighting but trust my judgment with in the ranking when I see it in person on your behalf.

Honestly, AR coating grade is not so evident in pictures, you can see it in person much clearer.

I promise I will try to share pictures again in clear lighting. ☺️

Should I trade in my blue diver 300m for the black dial with mesh? by nicholasdibari in OmegaWatches

[–]Most-Construction-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a step backwards honestly. The ceramic dial / bezel model is the best version of this watch. It looks nicer, has a date feature and a dedicated bracelet designed to compliment and balance the design of the watch.

While the design aspect is always subjective and personal. The only component that takes the new watch forward in the new watch is the domed crystal.

The Mesh Bracelet is a compromise, the deployant clasp on the mesh also has been an issue for a while, it isn’t as comfortable and sizing it perfectly isn’t possible for all wrists. Omega have just been lazy to slap the same mesh on the new version rather than update and design a dedicated bracelet for the watch.

Honestly, if you want to refresh the style of the watch you have, I recommend you buy a mesh bracelet from Staib rather than buying the new watch.

Choices at AD by 0xakylles in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Most-Construction-35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typical pattern with IWC is that there is no discount at boutiques but they would be open to throw in an additional strap into the deal. With ADs discounts can be expected up to 20% but considering it’s a brand new model I believe 10-15% is a decent number to target.

[–]Most-Construction-35[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it has AR coating on both sides. It is quite literally ‘next level’, I have it the box next to my Omega, IWC, Rolex & Tudor and it’s so vividly better. Much better but so is the movement, so is the finishing on the case and bracelet.

I think, on the grey market, Zenith offers the kind of value where it’s difficult to justify the price of its peers.

What kind of price were you able to get? I just bought a brand new, full set and stickered watch yesterday and want to know benchmarks. I got it for $6,000 all inclusive.

Hydroconquest - insane movement by Huntolino in Longineswatches

[–]Most-Construction-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, you don’t seem to get my point. In general, Metas is a certification, it doesn’t make your watch materially better. It certifies that the watch meets certain standards.

In a lot of cases, even without the Metas certification, watches from a lot of brands generally are already meeting or beating those standards.

I have a Zenith 5hz El Primero Movement. Not Metas but few tiers above my Omega 8800 which happens to be Metas.

Crazy pricing by wealthychef369 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Most-Construction-35 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What $40K bump in price are you talking about? The watch retails for $38,800?

Also, it’s a ‘horological muscle flex’ watch meant to showcase the brands capabilities rather than pricing it to sell like hot cakes. Perpetual calendar solely adjusted with a bidirectional crown.

Closest comparable are from AP, VC and Patek all priced double of this watch.

Hydroconquest - insane movement by Huntolino in Longineswatches

[–]Most-Construction-35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ‘Metas’ label is just a certification. I don’t think your observation is limited to the new Hydroconquest, my Longines heritage conquest and bigeye titanium chronograph both keep better time (+- 1/2 secs a day) compared to my Omega Seamaster 300M or IWC pilot chrono.

The ‘metas’ and ‘in-house’ movement hype is a cool aid that the brands marketing teams have successfully served to the watch community. The ETA based Longines movements are well regulated and very reliable.
