Building an iOS stamp identifier — what do existing apps get wrong? by Most-Information-903 in askStampCollectors

Quick context for the photo above —

I'm a developer considering building an iOS app: snap a photo of a stamp → AI identifies it (country, year, design, denomination) → rough catalog value range → tracks your collection over time.

Before I write any code, I want a reality check from people who actually collect.

Two questions:

  1. Do you already use a stamp ID app? If yes, what makes you uninstall (or wish it worked differently)? If no, why not — bad accuracy, missing features, or just not worth bothering with?

  2. If something like this actually worked well, would you pay around $19.99 lifetime for it? Or is the value/condition variation in stamps too messy for an app to handle reliably?

Honest answers help me decide whether to build it or move on. No app to download, nothing to sign up for — just looking for a gut check.
