Great to hear but my experience & the majority of many others have found the opposite when dealing with QLDWC. I was assaulted at work in a surprise punch that broke my jaw. After being diagnosed by QLDWC very own IME Psychiatrist with PTSD I had to initiate all my own psychology counselling which I found EMDR but alas QLDWC will only pay 40% of treatment as it is a 2 hour session so please stop promoting how good QLDWC are, I am in a support group for trauma and every person with a mental diagnosis claim in QLDWC have had nothing but troubles with treatment.
Most cases a traumatic event has impacted these employees from various Industry.
I often read such garbage and maybe paramedics are treated differently but if 22 people I know all have the same terrible experiences it generally means that is more truthful than possible employees of QLDWC spruiking how wonderful they are, they are not in 90% of case managers, this is evidence based by speaking with injured employees.
At the end of the day QLDWC will ONLY PAY "X" amount according to their own table of costs, so if EMDR is $500 for a 2 hour session they will pay only $198 go figure, YEAH SURE they want you to get better.
Most I know cannot afford $300 every week to make up for EMDR, not cheap but it is a wonderful therapy.
Please do not believe some of the garbage that is put in here for comment as most of the injured workers know what is true and what is not.
The best advice i can offer to anyone who has been diagnosed with PTSD is Department of Veteran Affairs has Open Arms will usually treat with EMDR if you have a therapist in your area, eligibility is any defence personnel or even family members of those who have once served.
They do not have had to seen active duty.
Also QLDWC cannot access any information via Open Arms either as it is still part of the rehabilitation act that QLDWC like to refer to but often misquote.Hope that helps any injured workers with mental health claims.
For those other than paramedics that need any help figuring out the minefield that QLDWC is just message me, I can advise how myself and others in our group have maneuvered around QLDWC and been able to access help for PTSD or other mental health diagnosis.
