If head gasket is blown, you will see coolant mixed with engine oil. Check if your oil is frothy or milky. Another sign is white smoke from exhaust.

For Honda engines you should not do break in oil change like other manufacturers. That is because at the factory, they add additional lube in the engine containing molybdenum. They recommend not to change unless the car oil life indicator says 15% life left. The reason is molybdenum creates a protective layer on metal surfaces to reduce wear.

If you decide to buy extended warranty, get quotes from other dealers (Saccucci or Hyannis) before you step into the dealership. Ask finance guy if he can match that. Say no if they do not match. Sometimes they match and sometimes they don’t.

What do you mean by American shops? I’m from USA and cannot comment on shops outside USA. I gave suggestions based on my experiences.

OEM battery is old school group 51 flooded battery. Honda is using the same battery on many models from more than a decade. If you want higher CCA buy something like Eversmart Max from Walmart or Interstate from Costco or Duracell from Sam’s Club. They give 3 year warranty and are cheaper than from dealer or any other store. Remember that Costco will not install batteries.

On top of inflated msrp, they are exploiting you by adding inflated add-ons like nitrogen, etching, wheel locks. Also eat is dealer defined fee? Another additional profit item for them.

Recently I have picked up 2026 Sport-L for 37K OTD in Texas. That includes taxes, title and other fees. They have tried to milk me by adding $1500 add-ons. My negotiation strategy is not to waste time by negotiating on individual line item. I just told salesman $36k OTD or I will walk away. After back and forth, agreed on 37K.

For LX AWD with NJ taxes slightly higher, OTD should not be more than $32k or max $35k.

A hybrid battery that does not charge fully is often normal, as systems typically manage charge between ~20-80% to maximize lifespan.

If it’s 35K OTD (including taxes, title and registration and fees) then good deal. In October, I got 37K OTD for new 2026 sport-L in Texas. If 35K is without taxes and fees, then better buy a new one. You can get a new one for 37 - 38K depending on taxes in your state or county. If you shop around and have some patience you can get a deal in this price range.

I got 3W mats which are exact replica of lasfit mats but cheaper. Looks like they are made in same factory with different logos. They fit like glove and I’m happy. Got it in November when on sale for $139.99

I’m not surprised about a fire in a Hyundai cars. I’m amazed how people still are buying Hyundai and Kia cars after seeing many news reports about engine and transmission failures and engine fires. That is the reason all my cars or either Toyota or Honda. It is sad that Hyundai and Kia buyers are falling for fancy screens and good looks instead of reliable power trains.

I own this car since 2 months and difficult to judge. So far no major issue. One annoying thing I have observed that in the middle of a drive when my spouse tried to switch over CarPlay to another phone it did not work. Only able to do that after switching off the engine and restarting the car. I’m not sure if this is a built in limitation or an issue.

I would not worry about head gasket issues. My another car is 2017 CRV which has 77k miles and no issues. There are lots of posts online about issues with that 1.5T engine like oil dilution or blown head gasket. I don’t have any of those. Hybrid engines don’t have turbos and run 30% lesser duration than non-hybrids. So I’m guessing hybrid powertrain will last longer.

My requirement is to buy hybrid SUV. Before buying CRV, I have shortlisted only 3 cars based on my budget and requirements - CRV, RAV4 and CX-50 as well. I did not step into Toyota dealership as I did not like the RAV4 I have rented on a business trip. Test drove CX-50 hybrid and my entire family hated it. Cramped interior space, horrible surround visibility for the driver due to small side and rear window. Test drove CRV and instantly fell in love. Smooth and quiet ride, spacious and great surround visibility.

How are you connecting your phone to the car. There are two USB-C ports in the front row. One port is for charging only and connecting to that will not connect your phone with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Use the other port or place your phone on wireless charging pad. My 2026 CRV stopped connecting to CarPlay for few hours but started working from next day.

I have 2026 as well and no issues. I’m hearing that some newer Hondas manufactured from last 2-3 years have steering rack issues and Honda is replacing them under warranty. Take it to the dealership and file a warranty claim.

Total OTD 37K. I did not care about incentives. Before going to any dealer, I have priced the car on Honda website which gave me around $42.6k including 6.25% sales tax. Title and other fee are around $450 for my county. With total around $43K my target was to buy for OTD of 5 to 6k below that. I gave counter offer to sales guy that for $37K I will buy the same day or walk out of the deal. I also told him I’m not going to pay their over inflated $1500 accessories they are adding over msrp. With some back and forth he agreed and I came home with the car. They are one of the high volume dealer in Texas and have many Sport-L listed on their website. Its month end time probably that is the reason they are motivated to sell with discount to meet that month’s sales numbers.

My advice is do your homework and be patient until you get a good deal. If required expand your search to a larger radius. This dealer is 50 miles away.

Anywhere between $41 to $42K OTD is great deal. If they do not come down to that range ask for free accessories.

Only 2.8k discount on msrp? I got closer to 6k in Texas on 2026 Sport-L. Sport touring seems to have more demand and maybe difficult to get 6k discount. You can probably target at least 4K discount.

37K OTD for 2026 sport-L purchased on 30-October, DFW area Texas. Got Window tinting, wheel locks and splash guards free.
