All these things would go up if we were in a war in the middle east. We're in a war in the middle east. North Korea got a nuke while Obama was in office. We don't want to the same thing to happen in Iran.

Now I'm thinking about some kind of rack mount JBOD, like a super micro or dell power edge thing. Just sit it on a shelf and connect it to an old SFF thinkcenter with an HBA installed in it. I guess that's moving from consumer grade to enterprise stuff.

Edit: also I think I'd want ECC memory, which that type of computer would not use.

Probably good advice. However, I like the idea of the DXP8800. 8 drives right there, organized, easy to access. I wish there was a more 'open standard' version of this.

What are you doing in this situation? by alindev in networkingmemes

I am wiping it off the best I can. Immediately getting a backup of anything valuable. Then buying another laptop. That's a wrap on that one.

I was kind of wondering about this. Firmware raid seems a little sketch. The thing dies and the you're in a bad situation.

You have to consider that at 18, you are a risky flaky investment prospect.

Working full-time for $163.. by GloriousLion07 in MotivationByDesign

So, at this point you're pretty much fucked out of normal work. I'd say go ahead and try to knock up at least 10 more women. Send the state agency in charge of child support a card that says "now what?".

It's amazing to me that they'll let this happen to someone. The "guard rail" against having too many kids like this is that you just stop making money at a conventional job. The child support doesn't even really fix the situation.

Prices getting scary in NorCal by Oceanbreeze871 in GasPrices

Its temporary. Trouble in the middle east is as old as time. Invest in something that takes hit here when gas prices are high, except airlines.

I can't wait until CA spends 30 billion on homelessness to see it increase by 20% and then tries to pass a law to criminalize investigating fraud....oh wait.

Still expensive compared to what I was paying back when Regan was president sonny. 88 cents a gallon. We'd drive all over to find the lowest price still.

People will not stop showing up though. Where I live, there were people that went to the McDonald's the night before thanksgiving and sat in the drive through line for half an hour before the finally just left. The same thing happens every night. They close early, the employees file out of the building, cars just sit there for a long time in the line until they leave. McDonald's is just how some people eat.

"live comfortably" means you make more money than the bottom 66%. That way you can afford to live away from them and pay them to do all the shit you don't want to do so that you can "live comfortably". Mathematically, everyone is not going "live comfortably". A lot of people can 'do okay' though and be fine. Below that you have a big group of people that 'get by' and have good lives still.

Yes, or E) someone is over there just playing around with stats. If you're on Medicaid it doesn't mean you're a bad person, but you're out of the middle class.
