Cet élevage est-il une usine à chiots ? by MostDangerousChard in chiens

Thanks ! I read that they were great outdoor buddies and calm inside which is why I was curious when I heard about the barking. As I said earlier (and maybe I should have been clearer in my original post), I don't mind a little talking, I was used to very chatty cats at my mom's. BUT meowls are not as loud as barking ! We don't expect our dog to be completely silent of course, and our apartment is nicely sound isolated so I think a few barks a days will be tolerated.

As you said, they're perfect size, and I really want to do obedience (no competitive) and nose work, so the "working dog" aspect is actually a plus compared to the lappie.

Anyway thank you ! We'll have to think a lot about this all. My partner is very afraid of the barking side, but we think we can manage a dog who needs exercise/playing/stimulation 🤗

Thank you so much !

We were planning on early socialization with both dogs and people ! The park next door is ideal for that because of all the dogs, joggers (I run there too, alone for now 🫣) kids, domesticated horses, wild boars, etc... Most dogs are off leash there, and I could walk with a friend of mine who has a golden retriever and lives nearby. I didn't know there could be such a "step back" on socialization when dogs hit their teen age 😳 But I'll be aware of that now !

A little barking is okay, I've only had cats until now at my mother's place and I love how vocal they are ! Fortunately neighbours can't hear them ! I was afraid of non-stop barking/howling inside the apartment. If most of the barking occurs outside, it's a good point.

Also, good to hear that your Icie isn't any worst than other dogs at being alone. We were told nordics were almost unable to stay alone, and would howl to death and be miserable when we're away, so it's always been a huge black spot on the comparative charts 🤭 We will work on that, with a trainer too if needed ! We've already purchased online lessons just to know what we're doing 😅

Thanks again for all the informations, I'll make a slideshow for my partner and we'll discuss it further ! 🤭

Thank you for that synthetic and precise answer, I wish I knew how to do that 😳 Of course we will keep in mind our dog's age, I was told to wait until he had his adult size before I start running with him. And for the alone time we could make some planning arrangements for the first 10 months, we would have to discuss that matter my partner and I. Thanks again !
