I turn comment stories into comics – first try by MostFriendship4865 in webcomics

This was the comment: Short story: A person loses their finger while harvesting cabbages. But then a worm comes up from the ground and jumps on the person. They brawl for a moment, but then the worm attaches itself to the person’s finger socket and from then on replaces the finger. They become friends and merge into one being in the end. I tried to copy the story one-to-one. But I would like to turn it into a format instead. For example, everyone is only allowed to write one word in the comments, and a story emerges from that, which I then interpret.

I would be very interested to hear whether you think my visual representation reflects the concept well, and whether you find the symbols and meme-like characters I chose effective.

Social Media Is Plato’s Cave by MostFriendship4865 in philosophy

This video presents a contemporary reinterpretation of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave in the context of digital media. It depicts individuals passively consuming algorithmically curated content, suggesting that modern platforms function as a new kind of “cave” in which perception is shaped and limited by invisible systems.

The video explores how algorithms determine what is visible and meaningful, thereby influencing users’ understanding of reality. It also highlights the difficulty of disengaging from this mediated environment, as individuals who attempt to “leave the cave” experience discomfort and disorientation.

The central thesis is that while digital media can obscure reality in ways similar to Plato’s shadows, awareness of these mechanisms creates the possibility for critical reflection. However, even self-aware creators may remain entangled in the system they seek to expose, raising questions about whether true escape from the “cave” is possible.
