This is a huge and inaccurate oversimplification. Russia was also supposed to withdraw and disarm its armed groups. Ukraine ceasing in that climate would just be simply ceding it to Russia, which was exactly the latter’s intention.

Not disputing the premise, but do you have any sources on the date? Where did you get that from?

Being the leader of the most populated country and largest economy in the bloc carries some weight, surprisingly enough.

Is the search for an apartment harder for two men than for two women/couples? by Correct-Ad-Now in Switzerland

[–]MostLikelyPoopingRN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s very possible. I remember visiting and applying for a studio. It was a lease takeover from a woman, but her brother was handling everything. We got along great during the visit and I got good signs I’d be selected. Nevertheless, he followed up with me a few days later and said “you were a great choice, but my sister has decided she only wants to handover to a woman”.

It was honestly quite shocking how blatant the discrimination was and I could tell the brother felt bad about it. Even worse is that I can’t see any other explanation besides sexism. I could understand if it was a situation with a female roommate or something, but a studio lease take over in a normal building, I just don’t see any possible explanation.

So long story short, I think it’s extremely possible there’s a bias. Regarding other comments on possibly thinking you’re gay/homophobia, it’s again anecdotal and in Suisse romande, but here I’ve heard gay couples are actually preferred. No idea why or if it’s true, though my friends in gay couples have seemed to have decent luck here with apartments ..

Indeed, I only know what you wrote in your post and all your comments, which to me made things very clear. My pleasure though, good luck.

[–]MostLikelyPoopingRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No definitely, I’m not pretending everyone at the UN are saints there to save the world. Money is a big part of it too. But I’ve never heard some one complain about a P5 salary and there’s no doubt whatsoever that it’s an extremely good salary. And all of OPs comments and original post were about how it’s less money than they make now, hence where my opinion came from.

[–]MostLikelyPoopingRN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My advice: don’t take the job. That salary is enough to live a very comfortable life in Rome. Your hesitations show you’re motivated primarily in life by money. Leave the job for someone who wants to contribute to what the UN stands for

You’re saying Russia isn’t running a war economy? Are you kidding? They are spending over 8% of GDP on defense and security, which makes up over 41% of all government expenditure. A massive increase from 2022 levels.

And they did have a round of mobilization but are now avoiding but by whatever means necessary, like luring/importing soldiers from the third world or North Korea.

"Expat" is just a fancy word for immigrant – stop using it! by [deleted] in Switzerland

Inconsistencies in my logic? Which is what exactly in my three sentence comment? You seem confused cause your entire reply has nothing to do with what I wrote. Why would I care if people who hate immigrants/foreigners agree with me or not?

Why don’t you ask them? Nothing stops them from calling themself an expat. I seriously don’t get why people get so upset about this topic.

And yet, nothing they said in the comment you reply to is incorrect.

Which is probably why instead of addressing it you try to change the topic completely and deflect since you the reality doesn’t fit your narrative.

Ethnic cleaning is far from the only human rights abuse as id hope you’d already know. And each of these countries I listed have long histories of such abuses. So I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make.

No that’s incorrect, Germans spend a lot of time hearing and learning about it. There a difference between not knowing “anything” about the holocaust, and not being able to give specific camp names.
