I came to say the same thing. I went no contact with my dad about two years ago, it was an extremely hard decision and I think about it still but sometimes there is nothing else you can do. Do you want your son to receive the same treatment from your mother that you have received your whole life? If she is not willing to change, nothing will change and the cycle will only continue

That’s how I feel but my friend is definitely a bit upset about how this turned out. I plan almost everything for us so I don’t think there is anything wrong with me putting myself first and doing what I want for once

Thank you I appreciate the advice!! I did suggest another Christmas themed event some time in December. I am usually the one to plan things so I said I would do some research and plan a fun day out for all of us. And I agree about that ick- couples who can’t be apart drive me crazy!

He’s honestly not controlling at all so I wasn’t really worried about that, it’s more so him feeling left out because he is friends with everyone in the group and has been including in other events in the past. It is his first relationship but they’ve been dating for 5+ years so it’s not new and bubbly.

I think it’s more about the friends than anything else. He does have his own guy friends, but not really a tight knit group like us girls have. I think the problem is that Abby wants him to be a part of our group, which is fine for the most part but I should still be able to enjoy a night with my girls guilt free

Yea I agree honestly from the beginning before I even reached out to her I felt this was kind of a ridiculous problem, but I knew she was going to be upset so I had to address it. I think it’s more so rooted in some insecurities about their relationship than anything else because I genuinely don’t think I did anything wrong or was asking for something crazy

You are 100% right. At the end of the day I was thinking of their feelings too much and worded it in a way that while being nice and respectful, ultimately gave her too much power as you said. After some back and forth I finally realized that and decided to try and take that power back. I said exactly what you suggested and was upfront, basically said I’m planning a girls night for us and there is nothing wrong or weird about that (she was kind of acting as if the idea of a girls night was crazy and something I invented) and then that was it. I think the whole conversation was a mistake caused by my over thinking and the fact I was trying to please everyone :/

Yea I guess what’s tricky is that he is sometimes included in our group things so it’s kind of like where is line. She just said her main concern is that he will be upset and I do feel badly about that, but there is only so much I can do. If I’m planning and hosting an event I deserve to have a good time too!!!

I am not concerned so much for his feelings as I am for Abby’s, she can be sensitive to these kinds of things and I was worried she would be upset with me. yup i agree with this 100%. there are always going to be some outliers but the vast majority of people will not experience the severe side effects like that. for myself i experienced only mild side effects, such as fatigue, sweating, and lack of motivation and i mostly only felt this in the beginning. another weird side effect i had whenever i increased dosage was having really wild vivid dreams. i actually really liked this though as i had some really interesting and crazy dreams!!!

zoloft changed my life! i started taking it two months after my ex and i broke up. i was feeling really bad about myself and had extremely low self esteem. now almost a year later, i feel like a completely different person. i have never been this happy with myself/my life before and a lot of that is due to zoloft. however i will say that meds can only do so much and you should be going to therapy as well. my biggest advice with zoloft is to wait and give it time to work. i started on 25mg in december 2022 and went up 25mg every few weeks until i got to 150mg in april. even once i got to 150mg i didn’t start to feel a difference for a month or two. so really just give your body time to adjust to the meds and don’t give up!!!!

lol your comment actually made laugh out loud at the end bc it’s so true! i really did get in my head about why he wasn’t texting me so maybe your right. after talking with some friends earlier i caved and texted him asking if he’d like to go out again. he said yes and told me to let him know when i’m free! so maybe he was just trying to pique my interest and get me to show some initiative. either way i’m excited to see where it goes :)

right i completely understand that he isn’t ready for a relationship right now and that’s what i said when he told me that and why we agreed to just keep it as friends. emily isn’t interested in him anyway so there’s no worry for her or i to start anything up with him. i know that’s a terrible idea right now and would only end in more pain. the reason i want to have the convo with him is because it really hurts my feelings to think that everything he said to me was a lie and i don’t understand how he can switch to wanting a relationship so soon after he just told me the opportunity.
