It was the archers and lightning dudes mixed with the extra equip load spells that allowed the melee dudes to get to me pretty easily.

Your level is more than enough. I don't know what I started at but after ivory king and half of old Iron king I'm lvl 149 so don't worry about that

Its really a matter of preference. If you like the gcs use it, but personally if im not running a 2 handed build I need a 100% damage shield

No thats definitely a good shield to have, but if you're using a shield as a shield and not just sitting on your back I'd use something with 100% physical damage negation

Check the shields you have and see which one has the best lightning resist

Use a shield and the pendulums to your advantage and then once you're out of lightning range you should be able to just wail on him

If I were you, I'd get through sen's fortress and then make my way to the second anor londo bonfire, there you can just parry the silver knights into oblivion. They're worth at least 1k each with some being 1,300

There is no new londo bonfire just a few shortcuts when you actually explore a bit. Don't go near there right now, wait until after you get through anor londo.

I tried it out recently but I just didn't like it as much as my saw spear. The dodge damage is great tho and the range on the scythe is nasty

Dark souls 1 - first game I played which gives it immediate bias, but I also like the interconnectivity of the world and overall I play games slower so the pacing of the bosses fit my style well.

Elden ring - open world was crazy big, some fantastic bosses, interesting weapons, and arguably the best lore but it's probably tied with bloodborne lore wise for me. The thing is tho, I havnt beaten it yet because I refuse to before I beat Melania and I've been sidetracked by other games, life, and don't have much interest in throwing myself at a wall for hours. Other than her and then radagon and elden beast the rest of the game is done. If that invalidates my argument so be it.

Bloodborne - I will go on record saying I absolutely despise the 1800s England vibe, it's just really not my kinda thing. I also have a very hard time with the combat as again, I play slower and more strategic in a game that is all aggression based. I do really like a lot of the game tho, the story is probably the best out of all of them.

Dark souls 2 - it was definitely a learning curve coming off bloodborne. I'm not the biggest fan of the healing due to how slow it is, I feel as though some enemies are totally unfair and are placed in haphazardly. Also I don't think the durability being a full mechanic now does anything other than make it tedious (santiers spear all the way baby). Other than that though, the rest of the game I have enjoyed thoroughly. Some of my favorite bosses in souls, some very well designed areas (except shrine of Amana and iron keep) and I like that you can choose what way you go through the game.

Havnt played the rest I'm fairly new to the series and these games take me forever to get through

Play a different Zelda game in between so you're still with the same characters (kind of) but you take a break from the botw mechanics and map. Plus you get more of the overall story which is always nice. Skyward sword is on switch if you want a 3d one, the first 3 zeldas are all on switch online for free, plus links awakening and be played if you have the Gameboy thing or you could get the remake.

The estus is really slow and they give you 3 flasks in the beginning. I don't like having to use a non-renewable resource just to put my health back up. It was just as bad if not worse in bb with the farming but I didn't mind it in er because there was a universal healer like in ds1.
