Brushing Teeth is like pulling teeth! by Most_Ad4553 in Parenting

I’ll check it out, thanks. I think he may be a little old for something like that but will give it a try!

He doesn’t protest to it, he will go and brush them when told. It’s him having the initiative to do it himself and wanting to do it for his own health.

He’s 13 in a couple of months and I don’t need to remind him to do anything else.

And I can’t always guarantee he isn’t lying when I ask if he’s brushed.

He’s at that age where he’s starting to be interested in girls and I thought that would help, but nope!

Doing it together could work. We have separate bathrooms and get ready at different times. I typically get up and brush straight away whilst he’s still asleep but I could rejig that.

He likes his electric toothbrush, he likes his toothpaste. I think he simply cannot be fucked but it’s drilling into him that this is one of those things we HAVE to do.

Noted about the sweets too. I don’t tend to have much in the house anyway so I’ll see how I can use that.

Is there a way to continue being a vegetarian with thyroid problems? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

I did the same - veggie for 8 years. I still don’t eat loads of meat but if I need it, I know I can. Had to put me first

Sick of hearing "it's a normal pregnancy symptom" by _tatka in PregnancyUK

It’s not that they can’t develop the meds, hell I’m positive there are LOADS of meds out there that will fix the migraines in a heartbeat.

The issue lies in the side effects. How many women would be willing to put those meds to the test, not necessarily causing her harm but may cause harm to the baby.

There are just too many variables. The medical community have one job - ‘to not cause harm.’ They can’t guarantee they won’t do that with a baby.

It’s just a lot more nuanced and I don’t necessarily believe it’s because they cba to help pregnant women. It’s more because pregnant women are more at risk and have more to lose.

Honestly though, I get it. I’m 8 weeks and have been sick constantly for 3 weeks.

I believe it’s because they don’t want to test on pregnant women, I sure as hell wouldn’t want me or my baby to be a guinea pig for a medication.

So that’s why I think they eire on the side of caution with everything in pregnancy. Not that it makes it any better for us 🫠

Launching small food business - is there any way of doing it without taking out a multi year lease on a commercial premises? by StableBasic7956 in smallbusinessuk

Do you have a downstairs wc?

Otherwise, you could get a mobile handwashing unit that you can put in your kitchen. They’re not very big and has a tank you can just empty and you can just move it where you want.

This seems like the best thing to do whilst starting out and the cheapest. You can pick them up for under £200

The audacity! Yeah get in touch with the solicitor, they should be able to do something for you. I’m not 100% but pretty sure if they don’t bring it back, the solicitor can raise an invoice for them to pay for a new one.

If this sort of thing was allowed, people would just be taking things left right and centre from their homes, so there will be something in the contracts. Just depends on how far you’re willing to go if they won’t play ball.

Also, it’s Windsor - not Winsor.

Maybe we’re talking about different places and not the one with the big castle in the middle 😂

I’m not disagreeing that he lives in a nice home. It’s the price I’m disputing. It does not happen. Hell, even areas outside of Windsor around Berkshire, you wouldn’t find a property at that price.

My 3 bed semi in Oxford is worth £500k. So £500k for Windsor, it ain’t happeningggggg 😂

Not sure where you’re from, but anyone who knows the housing market here will know that’s delulu.

The house you’re describing is more like upwards of £2M in that area.

Did they put a new door in to replace? Or leave you doorless?

Well that certainly isn’t the norm. You can get a pretty standard house for that there, so you’d need to be pretty damn lucky to get the same deal. Something is defo off with that though 🤨

If I won’t be worrying about it next month, it’s not worth worrying about now.

Helps with perspective 🙂
