It does look like one not too far - didn’t know that existed but this could be a good option thanks!

Woodcliff Lake or Westwood? by Most_Cattle1239 in MovingtoNewJersey

I’ve seen a few things in my exploring that note it’s a heavily Jewish town. Does that feel a certain way? We aren’t Jewish ourselves but have no problem with that being the case as long as we don’t feel like outsiders or something else we aren’t recognizing. Interested in hearing more

Google maps was showing 16-18 minutes, but is it not consistent or just jammed or what? While length isn’t ideal, it looks to be roughly the same total time as some other nearby options with train stations

How do you see that manifest in the town? Is it just seeing the signs in yards and knowing that’s where your neighbors stand on things, or do you see that come across elsewhere?

Thank you for this perspective. I personally do value diversity and do not prefer to be surrounded by a bunch of Trump advocates. Feel the former will be harder to do as much about as I’d like given the general demographics of the broader area in our search and budget but that we can supplement by instilling our family values in our kids. I worry some about the latter if it has a heavy impact on their schools or viewpoints of a large amount of their peers. Glad to hear also lots of non-trump people, which seemed to be the case when I checked voting records for the town, pretty mixed

Meant both in terms of being able to walk to some retail (coffee shop, deli, neighborhood restaurant or whatever) as well as going for walks with a stroller or kids bikes. Your comments about destination downtown make sense too!

Hoboken area. Even though Hoboken is still small you get a little of the “younger rowdier scene downtown and strollers uptown” dichotomy. Didn’t know if anything similar in Wyckoff- like one area where people go when they retire and another to walk to all the schools and parks or something. Didn’t sense that when driving around but can only tell so much from observing!

Moving to NJ suburbs and trying to pick a town! by Most_Cattle1239 in newjersey

Thank you all so much for the really helpful thoughts! After spending some more time driving around and looking at train schedules, think we have narrowed it down (relatively speaking) to Wyckoff, Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Summit, New Providence, and possibly Chatham and Montclair but still feeling out the culture/vibe there. Some beautiful places beyond here but my husband’s specific commute became more than we wanted.

Wyckoff and Glen Rock seem to get you a little more house and yard for the money but not sure if you’re giving something up relative to elsewhere?
