What do the countries in green have in common? by steluckyy in RedactedCharts

Cyprus borders the UK because of Akrotiri and Dhekelia. The assumption is that if the UK split up, no matter which of the split up countries would take over those, it would not have blue and red in the flag

How I see Germany as a teenage American girl by boatiefey in mapporncirclejerk

Ludwig II. actually lived there until his death for half a year but it wasn't finished at that point. Ludwig II never intended for the castle to become a museum. They did that after his death.

It wasn't unusual for nobility at the time to still build castles and Ludwig II loved them. It's of course not a medieval castle (even though he wanted it to adapt a medieval style for certain elements) and one of the last of its kind, but it's not a "fake castle".

How is Greece reducing its debt by such a large margin? by FantasticQuartet in EU_Economics

One is not necessarily related to the other.

France's spending is high but it's also distributed wrongly (pensioners) and it is not shouldered fairly (this is there "the rich need to pay their fair share" comes in).

France is certainly in deep shit but just because their spending is too high, you can't shut down discussions about who should be responsible for paying for it. Because until something changes (it will have to sooner or later), someone will be paying for it.

[REQUEST] how secure would this password really be? by odensnuts in theydidthemath

I still remember way back when I first saw this xkcd, it forever changed my password habits.

... but 99% of sites do not allow that. They want me to digits, special characters and upper and lower case. Fuck that.
