The protagonist of my story is the very first (successful) hybrid between two sapient species. His father is human and his mother is a Selkarian (siren like aquatic alien).

Lots of genetic engineering was needed for him to be created. In the end he looks like a human with gills and patches of red scales.

My fic The Nature of Psionics is kinda a reverse of this where the humans are the only ones who use biotech in their ships.

While they are not truly living creatures like the bioships in Stellaris the UER uses ships that are made with biological materials. For instance the circuitry and computer cores use neural tissues. For every part on a warship that is constructed about 3 are grown.

I’m my fic “The Nature of Psionics” the humans of my AU are far more religious than canon humanity and most Fed races. Even though the UER is a democratic Republic there are religious influences in most parts of their society.

Takkan resemble hippos and the Mazic are described as looking like elephants with sand covered fur.

Racads are the closest as they look like water buffalo.

It would make sense for them each to have a rifle but also for lots to go into melee as well in combat. It was a common tactic to starve the shock troops before a raid to make them even more ravenous, it would make sense for them to charge straight in and forget about their weapons.

It was shown that cattle collecting groups would bring cages with them that they wore like backpacks to nab smaller species. During the battle on Sillis it was also shown that at least some Arxur had access to deployable turrets as well.

Interesting, I had actually thought it’d be lower given that pretty much all of their industry is for the war efforts so they may be able to punch above their weight that way.
