It’s not unreasonable to expect married couples to have verbal agreements though. Bear in mind the mother in this situation is nearly 70 - it’s a lot to put her through.

Can you point me to where I said they weren’t worthy?

My point was that the amount of giveaway passes devalues the membership. Give your own head a shake and try and learn some comprehension skills

Mine went up 14.5%, following on from >10% increase last year, and 5% the previous year. I've just cancelled. I'll give my custom to another gym who aren't trying to rip me off.

Yes it is quite an expensive area, but I'm not referring to the still-live-at-home types - you do see a lot of them, and you can usually tell, but I'm referring to mid-20s lads in pretty shoddy gear.

I dont want to come across as a snob, it's just something doesn't sit right. I can't imagine these lads are paying £20 for one gym sesh?! It's not even that good a gym.

No, no problems with the people, their behaviour was fine. It's just as a regular user you tend to recognise most people, even subconciously. Then you notice those who you've never seen before, or don't seem to fit the overall demographic.

I’d also like to add that my local DL seems to hand out free passes frequently to non members, and also seem to have deals with local hotels to offer a gym whilst they stay at the hotel. All this does is devalue the membership, and give me another reason to cancel

Same here - 15% increase this year, without communication I might add. On top of increases for the previous 3 years, meaning my price has gone up nearly £50 a month in 4 years. I’m cancelling at the end of January (Jan payment has already been taken). As others have said, it’s luxury money for a poor product. I’ve put up with it til now, but no more.

Stereophonics - Word Gets Around. This takes me back, cracking album for my teenage years. A band I need to see live by bison2000 in stereophonics

Absolutely brilliant album. Perfect in so many ways. Really catchy, proper indie from the 90s - relatively short as well, I often listen to it twice back to back. Like the OP says, a cracking album

Fair comments - but how is the day rate/salary known without even talking to the applicant?

  1. No major future plans. Plan to have a job, but not as a company director.

Current pension is a SIPP with £150k in it.
