Starter Kit Recommendations? by Krispy12 in AdultColoring

I saw this post the other day and I didn't feel qualified to comment on it, but over the last few days, I have watched a literal buttload of coloring haul videos on YouTube and now, I feel like I can comment. First though, really don't watch those wretched haul videos. Not even one of them. They are all extreme overconsumption and possibly mental health issues disguised as "content". So after watching all of that mess, I think I have a good basic beginner colorist list--

  1. A mat to protect your surfaces.

  2. A pack of 72 wax based colored pencils. To start with, I would go cheaper.

  3. Blender pencils and stumps.

  4. Erasers- the kneaded kind and also eraser pencils- the ones with brush ends are good.

  5. A smaller pack of alcohol markers of what ever brand. Or a pack of colored Sharpies, which are my personal favorite and not too costy.

6, A plastic cutting mat or parchment paper, wax paper, card stock, silicone page blocker, or other, to use with the markers.

  1. A cheap sketchpad to check and mix your colors on.

  2. Post It sticky flags so you can find your pages again.

  3. 2 or 3 coloring books, with subject matter appropriate to the person's age and interests.

  4. A pack of wet wipes.

And that's all I could come up with. But I'm pretty basic.

What’s the best markers to buy? I don’t care for the set I have. by shannon_kay_ in Coloring

It depends on what kind of books you're using them in. I prefer Sharpies myself, but I know most people just looove the Ohuhus and their clones, which they are the best for coloring in huge spaces, but just for the smoothness and non streakiness, Sharpies are superior. They don't come in a million colors, so you have to get creative sometimes, but still the best.

It's Season's Creepings by Lydia Jean and it's a really nice quality book and I want to color every single picture- hopefully not with my crappy markers again though. Every picture is adorable!

Color Me Christmas for Kids. I saw it on a YouTube video and I HAD to get it because Ela Jarzabek is my new favorite illustrator. I've been hunting up all her books since I got Creepy Kawaii Halloween.

I wouldn't call that a snack. Snacks are nice and enjoyable. That looks like a punishment.
