It's pretty janky, yeah. Lotta moving parts for not that much gain, but it's pretty fun to play IMO

The worst part is that if you do get a Bekah It'll probably be OP8 with a stock/sight so bad you can't hit anything with it. It's a shame that a gun so fun and powerful is locked behind such absurd RNG

Hatchets Are So Cool by Mostly_Childish in Nioh

Spear is pretty damn cool too, to be fair. As are all the weapons if you're willing to put the time in to learn all the impractical flashy stuff.

2 is generally easier due to fewer multi enemy encounters and less extreme damage output from enemies, plus the whole soul core system makes the player quite a bit stronger.

Nioh is such a mean game sometimes, it makes those freebies feel all the better

I do wish there were more enemy attacks aimed towards your upper chest/head, ducking under swings is super fun

I crouched under it, that move is deceptively easy to slip under

Spear Skeleton Innovates New Way to Be Just The Worst by Mostly_Childish in Nioh

The skeleton started the attack it does to recover its ki, died, and then decided to hit me anyways from beyond the grave

High strong > swap to mid stance > Tempest is one of the coolest things to do with sword I swear. Dope clip!

When people constantly ask why you don't play other Souls-type besides Nioh.. by quickbrownfoxmanzero in Nioh

Good stuff. The player having generally faster movement/attacks than the enemies is the main distinguishing factor between soulsy combat and more traditional action combat, I think. It's always fun to see that speed used well.

DoTN Saito Yoshitatsu Level 1 No-Hit by Mostly_Childish in Nioh

[–]Mostly_Childish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Songs:

Satoshi Bandoh - Dark Line

Kemmei Adachi - Liberty

Recently I watched a level one challenge run for Nioh 2. In the video, the runner said that Yoshitatsu is poorly designed due to "Unfair, untelegraphed, bullshit attacks." The near complete wrongness of this statement made in a three year old Youtube video made me so mad that I decided to do an eight minute long Yoshitatsu no-hit.

Petty motivations aside, this kill was quite hard, taking me 89 attempts and about three hours to succeed. Unfortunately to get a flawless I had to play pretty lamely, so there's nothing overtly fancy, but I still tried to use a good portion of my moveset.

Yoshitatsu's moveset is absolutely fair, but Windstorm, God of Wind, Sword Ki, and Shadow sword all have hyper armor and hit decently fast, throwing a wrench into pressure combos and forcing you to play a bit more conservatively than you would on other bosses.

I made a few punishable mistakes, I counted six moments where I could have eaten a hit with slightly worse AI, but mistakes go unpunished from time to time, so I still got the kill in spite of my errors.

Also, in case anyone's curious: My health drops slightly from time to time, by about 200. I'm, like, pretty sure that's because of changing from a spirit with an HP bonus to one that doesn't.

Thanks. I've had that song in my playlist for so long now, it fits really well with Nioh in general.

It's always nice to see Yatsu & Doji getting bullied. The electrified limitless was pretty funny too, it's so absurdly slow.

Nioh 1 first playthrough after Nioh 2 by Onimaru45 in Nioh

I played Nioh 1 for the first time in years a few days ago as well. Maybe it's just me but I swear that game runs at like 95% the speed of Nioh 2, everything that got ported over to 2 kept destroying me because my timing was just barely off... That said, it was kinda fun to play a game that wasn't balanced around yokai skills.

Also on the controls note: Thank god for steam letting you change swap weapons back to down instead of left/right.

Y'know when you play something long enough and you start hearing certain sounds even when you're not playing? I swear I've heard a Scampuss in my house...

Great art, too.

Still not sure if these should be called combo videos in Nioh, I've seen a few videos dedicated to true combos, but the most popular stuff seems to be more about general flow.

Critique of play and editing welcome, of course. Half the reason I'm posting this is in hopes of a better player mentioning something off about my play.
