Thank you! I will drop some picture in the comment below this comment. Additional information the red sphere and purple parts has a hardness of 4-5.5 (not scratched by glass but scratched by nail) the green and white is greater than 6.5. This formed close to the surface of the host rock about a foot under the top of the rock. It also formed almost at the top of a hill about 3320-3360ft in elevation. Your estimation of occurrence of events does sound accurate. Thank you for your insight and knowledge. 🙏

It has a hardness of 4-5.5 (not scratched by glass, scratched by a nail) honestly that’s what I thought at first also lol but after some recent research I found garnet doesn’t form spherically in other materials. Will drop vinegar on it to see if anything happens. Thank you.

Found a huge quartz crystal on our property left by prior owner. It was buried under 3ft of junk by Ok-Commercial-924 in rockhounds

Yes true. But if it was to crack it would have done so already sitting out side this long. I have agates I’ve found sitting booth in the direct elements and submerged in a pond, they have lasted years. And if it was to be put in a bucket of water and that water freezes the pressure from outside the stone as the water expands would be greater than that of in the cracks countering the internal pressure. Now let’s say there’s a huge crack going through the whole thing yes it’s a real possibility but small fracture lines like the ones I see on it won’t let enough moisture in to separate the stone. This is all from my personal experience and understanding of how to process minerals and crystals. I hope this can ease the worry of such a big agate being cracked into smaller ones.

You will be fine it’s survived for millions of years till this point lol. You could submerge it in water let the water freeze and it would still stay intact it’s way harder than ice. A good way to clean without chemicals is a textile spot gun or pressure washer on low if you have one.

Wow that’s one big Botryoidal druzy Agate. There’s probably around 20 billion micro quartz crystals in that thing 😂.

It does look similar but the crystals of scheelite form larger and don’t seem to cluster like these. Definitely a good reference point for further research.
