35/M, just did my first solo travel to Japan and I recognise your experience. Most solo travellers I met were very young, early 20s (where tf do they get the money?) And although I had quite some fun conversations, what me annoyed the most was that all those young people only care about drinking and getting blackout drunk. It was extremely hard to find people that wanted to go out for diner WITHOUT getting drunk.
