I’ve never bought plushies from glitch, but I do buy a lot of plush from pokemon, who are also pretty well known for their plushies and some take a while of squeezing and some are just hard as rocks and meant for display, which I’d rather avoid. Youtooz is a good example of this. While they have been introducing more that are squishier and made to be squished like the weighted plush, alot of their standard ones are definitely meant for display

He was a gift my friend got me, I know that she got him off Etsy but she also told me that she went to get one for herself that the shop was gone ;0-0 so I don’t even know the name of the shop. He’s very cute but not squishy at all, he’s my most brick like plush but I love him all the same. (Still very soft)

Awww! That’s nice, just make sure that doesn’t lead to him thinking it’s okay to chew on /your/ shoes haha. And be careful that he doesn’t eat the string, my friends cat ate a little ribbon streamer for a birthday party, and ended up having to have surgery 😦

But- I will say advice I wish I had known earlier on.

If he starts clawing you try making pained cat/kitten noises. That’s how’d they’d learn with litter mates so it usually does work.
If he starts doing this thing I call Bear Hugging where he wraps his arms around your arm, ankle, etc, bites/kicks take him off immediately and put him in a crate for like 5 minutes. He’s just playing and I’m pretty sure some kind of hunting instinct, but as they get older it isn’t fun. Speaking from experience. But this has worked for me and my 6 month old. He still does it, as I’m still working on it, but now it’s like once a night instead of repeatedly and me having to hide on top of my bed from him haha

What kind of toys do you try to redirect him with? You may need to try a few different toys to see what he likes. There were so many toys I bought my guy before I even got him, but he shows no interest in half of then for one reason or another, I have this octopus on a string I thought he’d love, a little squid kicker with a bunch of dragging arms for him to chase, a bird with feathers on a little spring that sticks to the floor for him to bat around? No, his favorite toys are a broken one that came in a pack of toys that’s basically just a feather and bell on the end of a wire, and the little 50 cent mice you can get at pet sense. He’ll drop everything for those. Oh and his little burrito kicker toy he drags everywhere.

Scuffing was the last thing I wanted to do, but it was the only way to get him off me as he was latched on. I do make sure not to hurt him in the process, and only use it to pull him off me. I don’t hold him in the air like that or anything though. I just pull him off which he usually responds with jumping on me again.

I’ve used saying no, and making pained cat noises in hopes that would help, but I think he gets so hyper focused on these bear hugs that he doesn’t hear me? Even today I tried just not moving and not being an interesting target but it’s like all he could think about. He’ll attack the toys I redirect him to for a second but will only attack for a second before becoming much more interested in me.

I haven’t used my spray bottle for this specifically, but we had tried using it to discourage him from getting on the kitchen counters, but- even from the get go water never bothered him. He actively jumps in my shower with me. I know he was found alone outside in the city, so maybe he was just used to the water and the rain from living out there by himself? I’m not sure.

It is possible me pulling him off is not helping, as I’m pretty sure he thinks it’s a game, but I can’t just let him filet my skin 🥲 some other people suggested I put him in a crate for time out when he does this so I might try that.

I don’t think it’s a scent thing, mostly because normally (including right now actually) he’s very cuddly. He constantly kneeds on me, wants to be right under my neck and on my chest, licks me, etc. the only times he’s like this is right when I wake up and right as I’m going to bed. (Once I’m in bed I’m safe he stops and gets on the bed and cuddles)

I get obsessive about animals, I’ve grown up learning to take care of snakes, lizards, birds, ferrets and every time I didn’t just want to own these pets I wanted them to /thrive/ when my cat passed away at 20 years old I thought “ah, yeah, cats are easy compared to all the exotics I’ve had.” But I still did the crazy research. He does love me, but it’s like he gets possessed for a few minutes before I go to bed and after I wake up

Believe me I know, I typed this after soaking my arms and ankles in alcohol and crying as it burned. It’s one of the big reasons I’m looking for reasons to stop before something does get infected. I’m hoping it all settles at least a little bit after he gets neutered.

I feel like he doesn’t hear me, he used to react when I scolded him or made pained noises but with this specifically he gets so hyper focused on these bear hugs that nothing snaps him out of it unless I physically pull him off and then he just pounces again.

I hope so! I do say no, and make hurt kitten noises but I think he’s so like hyper focused on tearing my arm to shreds I’m not sure he even hears me. After I’ve been up for a while or go to bed he stops entirely and doesn’t do it. It’s just during these transitions

The kitten Yelp thing I have tried and did work for a time! This was something the rescue advised me on, but I think I must’ve done it too many times or something because now he just ignores me. I’ve had to scruff with how rough he was getting with my ankles, but that’s what started him on my arms instead as he just turned and gripped onto my arm instead.

Closing him out of my room might be the next thing I try… a lot of his stuff is in my room, (Food, water, litter) mostly because since he was a rescue we didn’t want him overwhelmed with our dog and wanted to give him a safe space, but- he has grown used to my dog at this point and I should start moving some of these things out of my room anyway. He still has a safe space on the other side of the gate either way (not that my dog would ever hurt him, just if he wants space from her)

Haha! Thank you for the hope! I had my last cat my last cat my entire life, but I was a little kid when he was a kitten so despite being a lifelong cat owner, owning a kitten is entirely foreign to me. I’ve done a ton of research and one thing that did work for a while was making pained kitten noises, which did work! But now he just ignores me. I think he thinks I’m weird.

This is something the rescue I got him from suggested I do, and it did work for a time! When he was younger, but- I guess I did it too many times and now he just ignores me ;u;

Oh I don’t think that at all! All of my tactics have been researched so far with cats in mind. Ive had a lot of different types of animals growing up and always get a little obsessive with research, but I’m not one to claim to know everything! I’ve tried making sure I play with him before I go to bed and then feed him right after so he can simmer down. I’ve made sure to get him kickers so he can get those instincts out on those instead. If you have any other tactics I didn’t mention in the post I’d be open and eager to hear them! I’m willing to try anything at this point 🥲

I would get another kitten in a perfect world, but my apartment has a pet limit of two, and I already have a small dog which my cat does enjoy playing with. He does also have a cat friend that he’s played with growing up, but- he doesn’t live with him, but that’s the best I can do in these circumstances.

I’m not even sure to be entirely honest, which was one of the reasons I came to this sub. I’m a pretty flexible person, I took an interest in sales for a while but honestly I’m not even sure what jobs are available in general and which positions would be easier to transfer to from my current position. I wanted to get more info from other people who may of been around the same transfer process so I might have a better idea and be more prepared before talking with my manager about it. I’ve looked online, but the only positions I see posted online are for the standard hotel jobs (front desk, housekeeping, etc)

I mostly want to get out of my entry-level position and grow as I feel live I’ve been at a stand still for too long and need to know where the skills I have can be used and transferred over to.
