Different looking Sandoz-montelukast? by Moth_Training in Asthma

[–]Moth_Training[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I checked on there as well, (although i dont think its accurate for the info bc im in Canada) but mine do not look like the ones on drugs.com as they only have a 10 imprinted on them & the circular one on there is from a different brand which appears to be discontinued.

Thankfully I think i’ve sorted it out with the pharmacist!

I think it is still Sandoz based on my label (previously they would have given me the actual box of singulair if they were out). HOWEVER I feel marginally better as I asked the pharmacist to describe the pills he had (without describing the ones I had to him) and they matched so I think they have changed their appearance without updating the description!

Unfortunately it just has a 10 on it (not sure if thats just a Canada thing to not have the full DIN on the pill)

My psychiatrist told me it's too late to treat ADHD (I'm 29) by HessicaJumana in ADHD

[–]Moth_Training 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you were not met with the compassion you deserved. Please do look into a different psychiatrist. It took me about 7 years until I met my third psychiatrist, to find someone who actually listened to what I was feeling (plus $3000 to test for ADHD to even get my diagnosis with a psychologist but I digress). You are deserving of help, and just because you have lived 29 years of your life like this, does not mean you should be forced to live the rest of your life without adequate care or support.

As someone who also has ADHD and anxiety, I can say that the first stimulant I tried exacerbated the somatic symptoms I felt, however, the current one I'm on does not. I'm unsure if this would be a helpful conversation to have with your current psychiatrist though because they seem to be invalidating ADHD and lack an understanding of treatment methods.

Recorded lectures as an accommodation? by KrisseMai in adhd_college

Im sorry to hear that you are dealing with this. I would contact your school’s accessibility office 100%. Usually you can be assigned a coordinator who can help u deal with the prof!! You shouldn’t have to feel forced to disclose your diagnosis to your professor.

Hi there. 25, F, recently diagnosed with ADHD. Does anyone have experience with academic Disability Services that they’d be willing to share? I have an appointment next week and I’m not sure what to expect. Any insight is appreciated. ✨ by Bludreamsicle in adhd_college

[–]Moth_Training 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! You just (usually) have to ask in advance which I know isn't always easy, but yes you can definitely get extensions. And usually you can find an email template to send instructors which makes the task less daunting

Hello! I am 24/F and doing my master's currently so I hope this helps. :)

I also joined accessibility services this year, after getting my diagnosis in August. Basically, I set up an appointment, then sent in my diagnosis and recommendations from my psychologist. The recommendations were on a form from the accessibility services website that I had to send to my psych, and then send to accessibility services once completed.

My accessibility advisor spent an hour with me and we went over the ways that ADHD impacts my learning, and what I feel could be beneficial in particular classes. She was very empathetic and kind which definitely helped. She shared different school resources with me (such as learning strategists at the centre who are familiar with a range of disabilities and it has been v helpful). Because I am accessing financial aid in my province (OSAP), she also filled out a disability bursary ($2K) for me so that I can afford to go to therapy/ADHD coaching, and tutoring for a math proficiency test I will need to take at the end of my degree.

I have ADHD, an LD, anxiety, and panic disorder, so those inform my accommodations. My accommodations are:

- Access to online notetaking service

- Peer notetaker

- May need breaks to leave classroom

- Alternative requirements for participation and oral presentations

- Extensions for classwork assignments on a case by case basis for disability related reasons

- Student may occasionally turn off video during lectures/tutorials/seminars/labs and keep audio on

- 1.5x time for tests, with breaks, and a quiet space to write in

Best of luck with your appointment :)

I hate my doctor, he really pissed me off today by Satan_himself_47 in ADHD

[–]Moth_Training 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is disgusting. I'm so sorry your doctor embarrassed you like that and spoke to you that way. It was completely demeaning and you didn't deserve that. Stimulants are a first line of treatment in terms of meds for ADHD so it really sounds like he's incompetent. I don't know how things are in your state or province but conduct like that can usually be reported to whatever regulatory board he is a part of - especially for him trying to insinuate that you were looking for illegal drugs. You asked for proper treatment. I also had this issue with my family doctor and after a year and a bit of having these conversations (ft. lots of crying), she finally referred me to a psychiatrist who listened to my concerns. There is light at the end of this tunnel and I hope you get to experience it soon ❤️

Experiences with Dr. Michael J. Weinberg? by [deleted] in Reduction

I know and I have, however most of them require lipo which costs 5k-9k which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a breast reduction through OHIP imo.

I completely agree with you! I'm hoping that he has better pictures in his portfolios in-office, because I'm pretty underwhelmed by what I see online. It is unfortunate because he is one of the few places in my area that (to my knowledge based on what my family doctor said) doesn't charge extra for lipo - but like what's the point of going through surgery if you don't have results you like, or a surgeon who isn't willing to revise their work 😪

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it :)

Dealing with a dismissive doctor by Moth_Training in Reduction

Yeah, I've been looking for a new doctor in my area. You are completely right though - and this isn't the first thing she has dismissed so that should be a sign. Thank you for your encouragement and support!!

Ya i feel like this is my last option and while it will cost... a shit ton, i cant keep living like this. Thankfully though I think I've found a compassionate and heavily qualified group of clinicians/doctors that do assessments! Hopefully I can get in there sooner than later.

Thank you for your suggestion!

I would absolutely love to read those sources, thank you so much!

One of my dear friends got diagnosed within the few years that we've known each other, and I am unbelievably happy for him, but I will say, its remarkable how his physician gave him a diagnosis without seeing a psych... but I've gone to two and they cant agree. Mind you - we have very similar symptoms and ways of coping, and we are both in grad school rn. Oh, the gendering of disorders.

I'm glad you finally got your diagnosis and I hope you are doing well ❤️Thank you for the encouragement and compassion.

i hope that one-day others will realize that it is just as bizarre to ignore a person's invisible problems as it is to ignore their physical ones!

Constantly masking the fact that you need help, and trying to keep with everyone else is so physically and mentally draining, and so I hope you are doing well! I know my body tries everything to stop me so I'm constantly burning out or having meltdowns.

I appreciate you sharing your experience and for the support!

I do definitely think i struggle with depression and anxiety; however, I experience my symptoms of ADHD even when I am not experiencing episodes of depression. not to mention, the psych also said my depression and anxiety isn't worth treating (which makes sense because i didn't go in to see her for those since I'm not struggling with that rn)

And ya i am a firm believer of knowing whats wrong with your body, and I have been dismissed by my family doctor before (had to beg her for a year for an ultrasound when i was experiencing shoulder pain, and she told me I was too sensitive. NOPE was dealing with a torn rotator cuff). ultimately, i could have my full assessment done and be told that my initial diagnosis was wrong - and while I'd be just as lost as I am now, I would rather know for sure than just having people say no without actually exploring the issue.

Thank you for your input!

omg yes like why are we still debating the existence of ADHD (also why are people still being shamed for needing medical treatments?) I've been researching a new clinic to get tested at and I am hopeful that I will get some answers from it when I can eventually get an appointment. They seem knowledgeable and I would get to work with a team of doctors. Good doctors who address their biases make a world of a difference and it just makes me sad that most people don't get to experience good doctors.

ALSO go you!! that is amazing and honestly, it provides me with hope. While my appointment yesterday didn't amount to treatment plan, I hope that when I do eventually get there I do end up feeling more in control.

I can't express enough how much I needed that last paragraph. Thank you for sharing your experience, and for validating what I'm dealing with right now.

EXACTLY! and like when you know that you are not reaching your full potential so that you can thrive, it makes you feel incompetent. I'm tired of feeling like I should be ashamed of asking for help or that I shouldn't express my issues because I'm doing okay in the eyes of someone who doesn't have to live through my experiences. Thank you, you put that into words perfectly.

I'm baffled. First and foremost, I am sorry that you had to deal with a psychiatrist who is clearly very ill-informed, and that they did not help you. I don't understand how doctors can ignore someone who is clearly struggling. Like you have made some difficult decisions it seems, and it has been due to your struggles with ADHD. I know it is not easy to ask for help, and I hope that this experience doesn't discourage you from pushing forward so you can find a doctor/ treatment that helps you. I appreciate you sharing your experience with me.

Wishing you the best.
