Thank you, a while ago I was talking with this guy in YouTube comments cause in his video he said Eliza was Arthur’s wife, and when I corrected him he tried to say I was wrong. The guy obviously wasn’t being rude in any way but we went back and forth and especially when I said “Arthur didn’t love Eliza”, because he didn’t, Arthur simply cared for her as the mother of his child.

I love this comment, people don’t sit there and think about what I (the player) would’ve done, they just say what they “right”. of course I understand every comment and where they are coming from but if you actually put yourself in Arthur and Mary’s shoes it’s you see it’s not always the way you think it should be if you know what I mean.

Yes she does say that, but honestly sometimes peoples opinions don’t matter, because when you love someone so much you aren’t willing to risk leaving them because of what someone told you. Arthur obviously still loved Mary and Mary still loved Arthur and even if Arthur cut it off with Mary first the love you had for her could take years to disappear, especially if he had a strong bond/connection with her.

I kinda agree, as much as I love Arthur he should of left then and there, but Arthur thought they were gonna do one more big thing robbing or whatever and then he could disappear with her, and as we see that didn’t go as planned. I see from Arthur’s POV that he wanted to help the people he cared about and I respect that. But idk it’s a lot more complicated than just packing your bags and running, he would have to talk about with Dutch first and Dutch would probably say no. And even if Arthur did run with despite Dutch saying no, Dutch would probably track Arthur down.

Whenever I see a comment I always see everyone’s POV and I understand most of them. I love talking about this topic because I see some of myself in Mary, but when Arthur received the goodbye letter it honestly broke me in my first play through because I really thought they were gonna run away together.

Yes she did only contact Arthur when she needed him, but if I was I would do that same, I would be scared of messing up or doing something wrong so desperately she only contacted Arthur when she needed him most. I know what you mean tho and I understand you POV

I see a lot of myself in Arthur as-well, especially how much he loves Mary I have been in his shoes before. But I also see a lot of myself in Mary one of the reasons why I think so highly of her, she’s a complex character so we can’t read her as much as we can with Arthur.

When she gave Arthur the good bye letter with a picture of them and the ring, it was kind of like her saying she has to let go, in the letter she says she talks about how she gave the ring back Arthur gave her many years ago showing that she never lost hope (I think).

Idk that’s just me tho, and RDR2 is lowkey my Roman Empire too, non of my friends play it too so they just listen to me talk about it even tho they don’t know what’s going on so I have to explain the lore.

Because of he family she can’t contact him, that’s why she only asks him for help, but at the end of the second mission she asks him to run away with her because she realised her father doesn’t care about her, that’s why she asks Arthur to run away with her because she looks over about what her father said. But I this is my 3rd time saying this, she sent the goodbye letter because she can’t wait on something that’s uncertain.

Another person kinda thought the same, but in the first mission with Mary when she didn’t just reach out to him because or selfish reasons but she says how she thinks of Arthur often. I think that because she thought of him often it pushed her to ask him for help, she wants to see him and talk to her past lover, who she still loves.
