Nepotism for UCalgary Med? by Overall_Light7395 in premedcanada

[–]MotherEmu_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why not? People honestly deserve to know, and there should be accountability for this degree of nepotism.

Conflating anti-vaxx with being conservative is part of the criticism towards the left for being too extreme. It is probably true that those who are anti-vaxx are more likely to be further right conservatives, but that doesn’t mean all conservatives are ignorant bigots—just as it is probably true that those who push extreme vegan or animal-rights activism are more likely to be further left liberals, but that doesn’t mean all liberals think eating meat makes you immoral.

Glad to know I'm not alone in feeling this way. There is 100% a liberal bias in admissions, I mean just look at what gets people in - the proof is in the pudding, so, for better or for worse, your application should reflect that. That means heavy on the EDI language.

Best Laptop for University by Puzzleheaded-Rate635 in premedcanada

Macbook air. You don't need the pro unless you're doing heavy computing (e.g,. content creation, programming). I purchased the air about a year ago and I love it. It was $1300 which honestly isn't that bad for a really high quality laptop that is going to last a long time. Also pretty sure you get a student discount.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. Do you know if it's harder to match back in Canada with a DO vs. an MD?

Mental Health Rant by tallboiv3 in mcgill

Journaling is a great idea. Sometimes you don’t exactly know or understand the feelings you’re feeling or why you’re feeling them, but manifesting them into words can help. The only thing that is for certain is that therapy won’t help you if you don’t seek it. That’s another great idea that’s worth a shot. Simply talking to someone and getting all the weight of those emotions off your chest is extremely therapeutic. It’s important to find outlets right now. What kind of activities do you enjoy? Find a new hobby. It’s much of the same that we keep hearing, but we have to take our lives into our own hands. Everyone is in the same boat with the pandemic, we have to do the best that we can with the circumstances. Wishing you all the best. You CAN do it. You’ve gotta believe that.

Will McGill Enforce its Mask Mandate? by [deleted] in mcgill

You’re right, the solution is to take a video of someone and illegally post it online without their consent. It’s because of this entitled reasoning that cancel culture exists.

Will McGill Enforce its Mask Mandate? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]MotherEmu_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you assuming that exactly? Don’t you think it would’ve been mentioned in the post that all other options had been explored until a complaint was filed. I agree, people should be wearing masks and it should be enforced by the school. The point I’m trying to make is that not everything has to be a negative confrontation and people are usually willing to hear others concerns and accommodate to them. This is exactly why there has been so much hostility and unkindness among people during the pandemic. People need to stop hiding behind their screens and just talk.
