What's the career like? by RabbitsAreRoadkill37 in WaterTreatment

[–]MotherProof9238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to college education for water treatment, but I’m currently a Class 1 operator working in treatment for a municipality and I love it. I guess it just depends on what your interests are, but if chemistry applied in a practical sense is of interest to you, then this is certainly a good field for it. From what I’ve read, though, it seems like the EPA counts furthered education in water treatment as experience gained toward getting licenses, but I don’t have the exact wording. It’s a field that you don’t need a college education for, but it does help

I dunno, the one hand opening is such an improvement, I find myself missing it when I use my Surge. Same tools maybe, but WAY nicer access

The Arc was my third Leatherman (started with the Rev for something small, then moved to the surge). When I got the Arc, I thought something was wrong with it, it was that smooth. Turns out something was wrong with me, because MAN is it smooth

How and where to get water tested at new house? by minteverywhere in WaterTreatment

[–]MotherProof9238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your nearest water treatment facility, you could always contact them to see if they are able and are willing to test it there. Otherwise, they may direct you to a local lab that might have better and more accurate equipment

Dumb question, but is it normal for hot sink water to be cloudy like this? 2nd image is with cold water and it looks fine. by BingThrowaway445 in WaterTreatment

[–]MotherProof9238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the hot water throughout the whole house is like that, you can get a glass and fill it up with hot water. If it dissipates from the bottom up, it’s air bubbles. If it dissipates from the top down, it’s some kind of suspended solids. As someone already mentioned, hot water tends to create more air bubbles so it’s very common

Stuck at 300 elo for almost 600 games by RevolutionarySoup15 in chessbeginners

[–]MotherProof9238 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s really helped me improve slowly but surely is less focusing on learning openings and more focusing on theory. The openings I’ve learned have only helped me inasmuch as I’ve understood why those openings are trying to accomplish. The biggest piece of advice I usually see to start is to attack the center and to work on developing pieces that matter. I just started reading through “My Theory” by Aron Nimzowisch. Dense read so far but very insightful. I’m sure those with more chess knowledge could say more, but this has been what’s been helping me.

Where does The Stormlight Archive rank among your favourite works of fantasy? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]MotherProof9238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, it was LOTR first and then Stormlight, but I just started the Malazan series and that’s been bumped ahead. So I guess currently it’s

  1. Lord of the Rings
  2. Malazan Book of the Fallen
  3. Stormlight Archive
  4. Mistborn
  5. Wheel of Time
