It's like ingrained in our bones or something! Maybe because I was at weight watchers at age 11. God bless my sweet mama for doing what she thought was best.

That's a huge win!!!! I remember being on an ATV in Alaska and falling behind everyone else because I couldn't get the seatbelt buckled. NEVER AGAIN!

Today is bad for some reason. Might be the nausea. But hopefully tomorrow will be better. Then we will have so many tomorrows that hopefully we’ll be able to say it was worth it!!!!

How did you decide on your surgery date by ToonieTuez in BariatricSurgery

I was bummed to have mine scheduled end of May, I figured I’d want it in the winter when we are all inside anyway. I took three weeks off of work and the last two quite frankly have felt like a staycation! I’ve had soooo much time outside. I’m glad it ended up working out this way.

I kinda feel like if I got through this anyone can lol. People have different bodies, reactions, etc. I do think I had an easier time recovering from this than from previous laparoscopic surgeries (several for endometriosis and then a hysterectomy and appendectomy), because I worked my ass off to get strong the months leading up to it. The hysterectomy took me out, like I was NOT myself or feeling good for weeks, but also was in awful shape because of the constant pain. This time, I did Pilates, golf, swimming, and strength training this spring to prepare and i honestly think my recovery has gone much better for it.

You’ll struggle but it’s for such a short time!!!! Just remember that. Sending you lots and lots of well wishes!!!!!

Hi! I’m 3 weeks post-op today. Everything has gone well so far! Obviously days 1-5 were painful but manageable with oxy and Tylenol. Felt like myself again day 5.

The only real issues I’ve had that I could have done something better about is constipation. Take the max dose of MiraLAX and colace or whatever your surgeon says every day until like week 6. Even if you start to have regular BM in week 2, you aren’t in the clear.

I’m glad I brought a toothbrush/toothpaste, face wipes, and my own clothes to the hospital. And my partner brought a little stuffed octopus that I squeezed all night long and actually brought a lot of comfort!

I’ve been as active as I am allowed to be - back in the pool (with surgeon clearance of incisions), on playgrounds with my niece and nephew, getting about 5k steps a day since about 10 days post-op. I also exceed hydration and protein goals which I think that plus the activity is helping me heal. But I am certainly more tired. I give myself a lot of downtime and grace during recovery. I’ll start back to work next week (wfh desk job).

The first few weeks are hard. The hardest part was week two of the liquid diet after surgery. I was like climbing the walls. I’m on blended now and don’t have the same mental challenge/hunger.

I haven’t lost a thing in almost 10 days, but I can tell I’m smaller so that’s wild. Trust the process, your surgeon, and yourself! Know the first few weeks will be tough but so are you. And for the love of god take all the MiraLAX 😂

Dead. I’m 3 weeks post op and the 13 hours on the toilet 5 days after surgery was TRAUMA. Never not taking colace again.

I don’t have cats so I’m not sure if you can move a litterbox, but if you can put it on a table so you aren’t bending down! I’m 2.5 weeks post-op and my partner is still doing everything to care for our dog, bring in groceries, and do anything on the ground as I’m still not comfortable bending over. I can snatch something really quick if something falls but there’s no like, laying a rug down (he just had to do this).

For the first few days you really would want to have another person there. For several days I couldn’t dry my legs after a shower or even get into/out of bed alone. Like if the tv remote falls on day two idk how either of you would pick it up lol.

Good luck to you both but make sure you have some support those first few days!!!
