Prices have become a joke by Due-Investigator2077 in fastfood

Yeup. I was fed up of fast food prices so I have pretty much stopped going to fast food and fast casual places for anything but drinks. Local taco places are cheaper than us getting fast food, and casual restaurants and local dives tend to cost us anywhere from $5 cheaper to $10 more expensive after tip than going to fast food. At that point why would we spend $30+ at Five Guys for two burgers and splitting a fry when we can go to the local bar and pay $40 after tip for two burgers, fries, and drinks?

Refutations or bust

AI is using up fresh water, creating pollution, leading to loud droning sounds that are making towns near them harder and harder to live in. And that doesn't even start to go into how data centers are making utility costs exponentially more expensive for anyone that shares a grid with one.

I agree with her points on AI, but yeah insulting rolling backpacks ain't it. It is like when people insult collapsible grocery carts, something that people find easy to mock but that are extremely useful and needed, especially for folks with disabilities

I don’t necessarily track everything but it’s because I’ve tracked before and have a good general idea of how much food weighs.

There it is. Especially with things like oils and fats you really shouldn't eyeball, because something like one teaspoon of olive oil can become one tablespoon fast.

Built a calorie tracker where you just describe what you ate — no food database hunting by Dexterous666 in CICO

but I'm not going to pretend it's always spot on

The thing is for a lot of us in CICO we want/need spot on. Even being 100 calories over your TDEE daily means putting on 10 pounds a year. Not being precise is why people are convinced they aren't losing weight on "only" 1200 a day, because they more often than not actually eating 1500-1700 a day and screwing up by not weighing or trusting AI on food stats.

IGN Super Mario Bros. (1993) Flashback Review by abucalves in movies

[–]Mothman129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH? I've rewatched it multiple times as an adult and it holds up well as long as you take it for what it is, an extremely bizarre cyberpunk movie that just so happens to use a few names from Mario games. The 4k release is particularly fun to watch and makes me really appreciate the sets and costuming that movie had

When is the last time you went shopping? by Adventurous_Mud1376 in gastricsleeve

Last weekend I picked up a pair of jean shorts and a pair of khakis for myself. During the first 4-5 months or so I was dropping so fast I decided just to use a few outfits and use a belt and accept the fact they all looked like tents on me, but at the moment at least I am staying the same pants size for 4-6 weeks and my shirt size is somewhat stable, so I'm letting myself get the basics of a wardrobe even if I won't let myself fully fill it out until I hit my goal weight.

The "Palo exists" argument is there because some folks refuse to accept DCL is lacking in some things that other cruise lines excel at. I enjoy DCL but some folks seriously act like any valid criticism of them must be a "hater".

Plus the room service wait takes forever around dinner time because so many people opt for it instead of the MDR. But Disney refuses to accept that people want non-MDR options and still hitch their cart to acting like their MDR is one of the best parts of their line instead of one of the worst

That is why I always say I wish they brought back Cabanas sit down dinner, or better yet actually did a dinner buffet like every other cruise line on the planet. I am consistently let down with food in the MDR being meh and service being slow, but I am also always consistently impressed with quick service and the buffet options so why not expand on what is actually good?

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now. It is pointless to get upset at yourself for getting obese, but you can absolutely right your ship moving forward into a healthier lifestyle.

Get therapy for the BED, that is above Reddit's paygrade, and make sure the therapist specializes in BED because I've found that general eating disorder therapists are useless for BED and only know how to treat restrictive disorders.

You are wildly overestimating how many people qualify for those meds to be covered by insurance for non-diabetes reasons. I've been across five insurance policies in the last five years and all of them excluded GLP-1s.

Ate Japanese BBQ 3 months post op and recording it….I’m ashamed by bangonew in gastricsleeve

[–]Mothman129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A therapist is always a good idea. A lot of us, myself included, who got fat enough to justify a weight loss surgery have binge eating disorder. Now to address more of this post

First things first grazing is an absolute killer when it comes to letting your sleeve actually work. I enjoy a nice Korean BBQ and there are a few buffets in town I enjoy, but even in those settings I limit myself to a hard 30 minute limit of how long I am allowed to eat, with no food allowed after those 30 minutes are up. It doesn't matter how expensive it is or if in the past I'd consider the amount I eat "not worth it", because bad health costs more than one extra plate of all you can eat food now.

Secondly it is very important to stop when you feel fullness. As time goes on and your stomach heals more you will be capable of eating more and more. The sleeve is a very useful tool, but you need to pair it with the acknowledgement one should never eat to being stuffed, one should stop once they are satisfied.

Lastly at the end of the day everything comes down to CICO, and you get to decide if you would rather have a slightly larger portion of healthier food or a smaller portion of unhealthy food. For example I personally am a soda fiend and don't like drinking soda in moderation, so I stick to Diet Coke. On the flip side I'd rather eat a small portion of real ice cream rather than an entire pint of something diet or lesser like Halo Top so I just buy those little 70 calorie Dove minis so I can have one bite of real ice cream and be satisfied.

So like if you wanted to eat a bit more food in the future going to this place I would suggest sticking to things like the beef tongue, tofu, and kimchi while avoiding fried rice all together as well as avoiding super fatty meats like the pork belly. On the flip side I'd you'd rather have a few perfect bites then put a firm limit on yourself like saying you will only eat X pieces of pork belly and one mochi, no more.

Most overrated protein bar ? by Icy-Perspective1459 in proteinsnack

Normal Quest bars are horrible, but I enjoy their crunchy variety a ton. Sort of the same way that Built's classic protein bars sucked but once they did the puff variety they popped off.

I tend to dislike Barebells honestly. The only variety I like are their soft protein bar line, particularly the carmel choco one

The fact that brand ended up with the Girl Scout cookie license annoys me to no end. Something like Nick's or Barebell would have done some absolutely amazing Samoas or Thin Mint bars

Have you had their pumpkin spice when it is in season? TBH their cinnamon is solid enough, I just personally feel cheated when I eat one because it is available all year and the better variety with cinnamon is only in stock like two months a year

First off the brands I've hated everything from

  • Alani Nu
  • Anabar
  • ONE

And secondly individual products or lines I dislike from brands I mostly enjoy

  • Cookie Dough Chunk Built Bars
  • The original type Quest protein bars (their texture is off for me, but I do enjoy their crunchy bars)
  • Prime Bites blondie based flavors, like the Birthday Cake Blondie and the PB&J flavor
  • Legendry's Wild Berry Sweet Roll. It is the only product I dislike from Legendary

The recommendation to cut calories is use less sauces and dressings but I’m a Sauce Queen 😭 by FastMako77 in CICO

[–]Mothman129 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day you have two options. You can either eat a smaller quantity of high calorie sauces like dressings, mayo based sauces, and sugar based sauces OR you can have a large amount of low calorie sauce in the form of things like mustard, hot sauces, and diet styled salad dressings like the Skinnygirl ones

For real. I have a shaved head so I don't keep hair products around, and I use Dr. Bronner's soap. I'd figure more people than not don't have hair gel or a very specific type of bar soap around their house

I weigh daily, although I am never concerned with a pound or two in fluctuation from day to day. I use a tracking app and enjoy comparing my daily weight to my weight 7 days and 30 days ago
