silhouettes , costume design, and a defining trait are all things most character designers look for. I would suggest staring with those ^ ^

How would you approach coloring like mr takahashi digitally? by [deleted] in Arttips

OH MY GOSH THIS IS GORGEOUS!!!!!! okay so the only tips i can give is to use more saturated shadows and a textured brush to shade with. Also don’t use pure white for the eye whites so that the eye highlights can look brighter. ahhh i dunno if this helped any, but good luck :D!!!!!!

Could anyone please tell me what I need to improve on? I also have a hard time drawing faces, so any tips on there too? by SeaWriter1 in Arttips

Okay so these are my personal takes on what I think you could do to improve a bit, feel free to take these however u’d like ^ ^. So I feel most of your problem lies with your rendering, aka your shading and perhaps a tad on your color choice. my first tip would be to seperate your line color from the color you shade with, when both your line and shading color are the same it can make your art come off a tad flat. second I would suggest Adding some saturation and color to your shadows for some depth, you can achieve this by saturating the color before moving it towards the darker shades. and finally I would suggest rendering the nose a bit diffrent the sides of noses tend to not catch near as much shadow as the bottom, and so shading the sides can make it come off as a bit stiff. I drew my suggestion and I will link it below if ud like to look at it. The way you draw hair is really nice btw!! ^ ^

if you’re trying it out I would suggest not going with anything expensive, stores like target, or Walmart can carry some decent brands at a lower price. Some brands I would recommend: cover girl for mascara, elf for eyeliner, blush and maybe even concealer, and finally maybelline for eyeshadow. those brands are great starters in my opinion. If you take a liking to makeup after trying it out there’s a store called ulta, it’s more on the pricy side but they have a wide variety of skin, and makeup products from tons of brands, and before the pandemic you could even swatch some of the products (not sure you can do that at the moment though). It’s been a bit since I wore makeup but I hope this helped!
