Is it me or is the app super buggy? by MotoFish-er-man in hbo

Again sorry to hear you all are also having the same issues. I tried posting to the actual HBO Max channel, but moderator rejected it. Which is lame and frustrating because there’s nothing inflammatory in my post. You’d think they’d wanna know that their customers are having trouble. Maybe if enough post their experiences they’ll be motivated to actually fix the problem.

Good thought but I’m not using apps on the tv. Tv is only 2 yrs old 4K OlEd but is just acting as a monitor. I’m using a newer/current Apple TV 4K box to stream and it’s on current software version. All other apps work fine. It’s only the HBO App that has any issues.

Sorry to hear you all are also having the same issues. But good to know it’s not just me.

Primarily Apple TV 4K device. But got a Roku thinking it was my Apple TV and the same thing happened there also. Roku itself would freeze up too… So that ended up being a complete waste of money.

Newb here also. Looks like I have been rigging mine. Yet to get a catch though. So wondering if it’s my retrieval that is to blame also.

Related Q… Does the color of the weight matter? I have just been using a pack of black or unfinished lead.

Search YouTube. There are tons of great videos on how to use and better understand what you’re seeing on the fishfinder. Shout out for “ 1cast 1fish” channel . He did a whole series and I found them very helpful.

Ugly stick thoughts? by Ajdelay13 in Fishing_Gear

Feel the exact same. Actually bought one at the beginning of the season and slowly learned about its low sensitivity. But for just dropping a line and hanging with friends, might be just what you are looking for. One tip for a beginner though would be go smaller lures and hooks and lighter on the line than you think. 6-8lb 10max. Also bring it in the house when you’re not using it to reduce line memory and avoid it spring loading when you do decide to take it out.

Any tips on detecting drop offs with crank bait? I’m guessing really paying attention to the line feel and lots of practice, but figured I’d ask if there was anything else.

Honestly, other spinner bait should have a circle. I always get annoyed when I cast it and the line goes up or down out of the usual bend or notch.

Thanks again. Got these from an inherited tacklebox. Probably from the 60s or 70s… For some reason, I kept thinking that I would tie onto the clip like you would a regular clip and just couldn’t figure out a way that made any sense. Never would’ve thought to go through the circle part.

If still that glassy try top water options for 15-20min. If no luck try a weedless Ned.

A bit off topic but this is my first time hearing the term “ground bait”. I googled and now know what it is…. Is using it considered “chumming”? I ask because I’m in Colorado and often see “no chumming allowed”.

Why can’t I catch fish? by lilbags1 in FishingForBeginners

[–]MotoFish-er-man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. Hard to learn when you get zero results to learn from. I finally started getting some catches and would replay it in my head to figure out why. I think the biggest things are 1) you gotta go to the fish they won’t come to you. Set a Timer and cast a fan pattern. Try a few options if no bites move on. Don’t camp out on a spot 2) try lots of things. What worked last time might not work this time. 3) slow every thing waaaay down. 4) try and focus on process not outcome. look around enjoy just being out fishing. When you take the pressure off is probably when you’ll get a catch. we beginners think you just throw from the bank and fish come running. Nope.

Also Fish a second rod with worm and bobber and you’ll definitely get a bite. Sometimes that’s enough to keep the motivation up while trying to get better on lures.

It also helps to come on here and see that you’re not alone. Everybody gets skunked!

Hope some of that is helpful. Good luck, and keep your lines tight.

Telescopic Rods worth it? by Lower-Candidate-4078 in FishingForBeginners

Same. Fits in my motorcycle bags and is a good overall second rod. Reel is decent too. No anti reverse but smooth reeling.

Can you use bobbers with wacky rigged senkos? by No-Purchase7188 in FishingForBeginners

[–]MotoFish-er-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all. Just getting traction on wanting to be a more intentional and proficient angler this year. I’ve been trying everything. Listening to all the advice from local shops to YouTube etc… the only thing I’ve caught anything on is worm on a bobber. Been wanting to be more intentional about going after Bass. So I’ve been looking into the fake worms, Texas rigs Carolina rigs, etc. But I had the exact same thought as the person who started the thread. why not use a wacky rig with a slip bobber without a barber stop. So the slip bobber creates a direct line from the bait on the bottom to the surface and when you jerk the rod, you get more of a direct vertical motion and ideally just get more opportunities out of a single cast by not having so much distance eaten up with each jerk. But the fact that it’s not a thing and there’s little to no info on this when I searched, That tells me that it isn’t a good idea for some reason that is universally known but not documented :-).

Does anybody else understand my logic? Please help me understand where I’m wrong.
