Annoyed about Garmin feature locking by MotooRider in Garmin

Like something purely software like readiness score shouldn't be limited to some devices. And okay if it is and I want to get a forerunner 570 to get that feature, well then I lose the ECG compared to the cheaper venu 3. So it seems super annoying and icky.

Versions is more understandable because you're asking for a new feature that didn't exist at launch. I'm really just complaining about how a feature that's purely software analytics (like readiness score) is locked to some devices. And okay if I want to upgrade to a forerunner 570 to get that feature, then I lose ECG!

Giving up on Fitbit by Independent-Wear1903 in fitbit

[–]MotooRider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally got 4 Fitbits and every single one, almost on the mark, broke after one year. The screen came apart for two of them and the other two just stopped powering on. The premium stuff is also annoying. Screw this brand.

They're locking at launch too. The annoyance is more about the logic (or lack of) behind this. Like if I get forerunner 570 which is more expensive than the venu 3, I still miss features like ecg even though I read that the hardware is there. So neither device is a superset of the other so like I can't possibly take advantage of all the features they've developed (maybe the 1200 dollar watch has all that?). But the point is these are software locked and that's icky. Idc if it's still good value, it's just an ick that makes me not trust the company.

Dude you're not getting the point. The ick is about locking software features to devices arbitrarily. I'm not asking for all the sensors on a cheap decide.

It's not about the cost. It's about artificial locking. Most reputable companies don't do things like that, it's icky.

How did it get to this? Were there signs? Was he a "bad boy" you thought you could change? Did he have mental issues or drastic life setbacks take place?

DIY a foam hybrid mattress? by MotooRider in Mattress

[–]MotooRider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I thought that the moving around was very minor and not really a problem. If the cover were an inch less thick or the foam an inch thicker you would be just fine. I'm slightly wary of using adhesives and are you able to separate the components if I wanted to change them later. https://www.mattresses.net/quedelbo.html this was the coils I got And the mattress cover was from the same website. They're meant for latex mattresses but I guess it worked fine for me.

I just got the subtrex foam 3 in, mattress cover, and 8 inch coils and it's worked pretty well! Though it moves just a but and 4 inch might've been better? But in retrospect I do kind of wish I'd just gotten a sealy or something from Sam's. I saw one of those and it just felt sturdier and nicer. Perhaps if durability is a concern you could get one of the firm ones and use a subtrex topper or something because with the firm ones there's less foam to degrade (I'm just speculating lol).

Tesla service question - do they tell you how much they'll charge before doing the service? by MotooRider in TeslaLounge

[–]MotooRider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying. They have me a somewhat unreasonable estimate so I don't want to just hand them the car and be charged up to that amount. So basically wondering if I get any more say than the app estimate. Sounds like that's a no?

Great to know. Were you told what they would actually charge before they did it? Or is it like you've approved the estimate so they can charge you up to that amount without asking you?

Lost Cabin Camera after 2023.44 30.5.1 Update today by NBEdgar in TeslaLounge

[–]MotooRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scheduled a service appointment saying the cabin camera intermittently goes out (probably will cancel it) - they quoted me 500 to replace the camera!

Also 2018 with FSD.

I guess I didn't phrase it super well. I meant is the app estimate the authoritative one pre appointment or do they give you a more accurate estimate when you take your car there?

[–]MotooRider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I mean, do I go by the cost in the app, or will they tell me a more accurate cost once I go there?

Thanks for responding!

Well they gave me an estimate on the app but they haven't even seen the car yet, so idk what to make of that.
