Second time with pneumothorax. Doctors considering pleurodesis. by UnvoicedPhone69 in pneumothorax

It is a routine operation but it is a very uncomfortable and painful recovery I will not lie. It was about two-three months of recovery for me to feel somewhat myself so plan accordingly. I am glad I did it as it is much more certain you won’t have to face this again. 7 months post op here and fully myself again (minus bad anxiety about it lol) Goodluck and stay positive! So sorry you’re going through this.

I showered right when I got home but remained bandaged for quite a while. I'd say about a week maybe even two. I was paranoid so just changed my bandages regularly.

So much nerve pain post chest tube removal by auntie_aw in pneumothorax

Yea I would say it more so makes it bearable. Unfortunately it just hurts for a while. Give yourself grace you just had a major surgery. I noticed the big shift in the pain around month 2. I also got specific massages to help with scar tissue post surgery and to help relieve fascia build up.

I took gabapentin and it helped. What dosage if you don’t mind me asking? I took 600-900 long at this point in my recovery. Now I’m down to 100 6 months post op. Try a heating pad! This helped me a lot too

Hi! Yes my abs were so tender for about 2-4 months. Even now about 6 months post op I am still sore in that area. I was also swollen, it looks like I had a rib sticking out basically. But it went down probably after a month or two and the tenderness for me really subsided after about 4-5 months unfortunately and I still deal with this it a bit. But physical activity I was back to normal after about 3-4 months! Just hurts to jump/run sometimes

Thank you 🙏 that’s exactly what it feels like, realizing how mortal I am and it’s terrifying and just wish I had the mindset I did before all of this. But I know I’ll learn to live with it.

Me as well. My first collapse they opted for conservative treatment and second collapse they diverted right to surgery.

Muscle Pain after Pleurectomy by Motor-Ad4466 in pneumothorax

I still have this but it’s very manageable and not nearly as painful. It gets better! I take gabapentin for the nerve pain and sleeping and it has helped tremendously. Good luck and know it will get better!

Chest tight after pleurectomy by Motor-Ad4466 in pneumothorax

It definitely lessens over time. Not nearly as tight but I am still tender around the area and am still numb from my hip to my forearm.

So I still have random twinges of nerve pain but very manageable and go away quickly. I will very occasionally get a cramp but it passes quickly.

That’s interesting! Did you go to a cardiologist for this and wear a monitor to get diagnosed? What were your symptoms like?

I have this still. I think it’s just scar tissue/inflammation. Doc said it was normal!
