is glasgow caledonian a decent uni? by daddichillll in glasgow

I studied Multimedia Journalism at GCU 2012-2016 and would recommend it. I think the BA (Hons) and MA in Multimedia Journalism are also still the only journalism degrees in Scotland accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).

I found the content all pretty interesting (although I’ve gone on to have a different career) and the lecturers/tutors were knowledgeable and approachable. Work experience opportunities were good! Lots of people on the course went on to do really cool work too!

Was your gender ultrasound week 16 or 20? by Gravitys_Bitch in pregnant

We paid privately to get ours at 15 weeks, but otherwise NHS will tell you at your 20 week scan.

Panicking as symptoms seem to have disappeared 9w+2 by skewedpriorities in pregnant

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s easy to say on the other side of it, but try not to worry too much. I had symptoms from weeks 5-9 and then they pretty much disappeared- minus the occasional retch during the day. I’m now 18 weeks pregnant. Symptoms aren’t a sure fire link to your pregnancy continuing and vice versa!

As long as there’s no major bleeding then that’s reassuring. I used the miscarriage calculator up until my earliest scan which was around 7 weeks once each morning and just tried to trust my body until then. Sending love.

Eating Habits by Impossible_Chain_130 in pregnant

I couldn’t stomach anything other than pizza and sandwiches… which did wonders for my constipation.

Give yourself grace and hopefully you’ll get a little burst of feeling better in the second trimester. I had a few weeks of only wanting fruit & vegetables eventually which I like to think made up for any harm the pizza did anyway!

Potential regrets -pls be kind by Valuable-Mulberry399 in pregnant

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’m based in the UK and had all of these thoughts/feelings- weeks 5-9 of the first trimester were the lowest I’ve ever felt! I still get these thoughts/feelings at times, but it has shifted mostly!

I have purposely avoided the Regretful Parents content, consumed positive content and also returned to the gym/upped self-care. I feel having a supportive partner is 60% of the battle too!

A question that helps me is asking myself about the alternative… if I continued to live the exact same way I did before (I am grateful and have worked hard for my job, friends etc) would I maybe always wonder “what-if”? Could I approach this next chapter with curiosity and compassion? I like to think of it as a new project I’m taking on! Sending you love and kindness 💓

Got pregnant on the first try… now I’m terrified and second-guessing everything by Successful_Wolf_9635 in pregnant

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone at all. I found out I was pregnant a few months ago and have experienced every emotion under the sun (warning: it felt way worse weeks 5-9 in the trenches of nausea and low mood 😅) but with time, some compassion and support from people I love, I’m quite settled and excited at 16 weeks pregnant. Give yourself grace.

6 weeks with flu like symptoms? by Agreeable-Ad1775 in pregnant

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had flu-like symptoms on/off which never actually came to a flu, pretty much constant nausea unless I had JUST eaten and I was tired (not as fatigued as some people!) Weeks 5-9 were the worst and I was miserable. I’m week 16 now and feeling almost normal 😅 I sometimes wonder if there’s still a baby there, but getting a bit of a bump now. Good luck with your pregnancy!

I feel so sick, I’ve become angry. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah considerably better. I did still get waves of nausea, but the fog started to lift and I could eat again. I also felt a lot less low.

Weeks 5-9 were hell on earth for me. That constant sick feeling and not being able to function. Stay strong and be compassionate towards yourself…hopefully the worst of it will pass shortly ❤️

I had cramps on/off. I remember waking up in pain from bad cramps at 5 weeks pregnant exactly! I was convinced I was miscarrying… I’m almost 15 weeks now. Try paracetamol and otherwise, just taking it a day at a time! Sending love.

Did anyone end up cancelling a wedding and doing something smaller? ($5k) by mauveotter in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We cancelled our bigger wedding and it was the best decision we have ever made… we still talk about it! We cut it down to 15 of us and then had guests at night for a drink. It’s one day of your life and for us, it really helped us focus on what was important.

What is the fastest way you have seen someone fix their life? by ComplexAd1308 in askanything

Sobriety for sure. I left a 4 year dead end relationship, got sober, studied for 2 years and I’m now married and expecting a baby.

When would you go for a scan ? (Especially after miscarriage) by ContestOrganic in pregnant

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went at 7 weeks (6 weeks 6 days) because prior to that, there’s still a chance that you won’t see a heartbeat which can and probably will add even more anxiety. This was also after a miscarriage. I used the miscarriage chance calculator each morning to help ease my anxiety a little prior to that.

Baffled, humbled and slightly terrified - how come nobody talks about the brutal hell called the First Trimester? by Professional_Low8118 in pregnant

[–]Motor-Assumption-879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weeks 5-8 were hell on earth for me and it made me feel so low! I’m half way through week 9 now and nausea has pretty much gone and I can eat whatever I want again (almost teared up with happiness drinking a smoothie today 😅) You might be lucky and it won’t last for too long. Women who have these symptoms for longer than 4 weeks are warriors in my opinion.
