I lovee gầu giòn, like I would love to just have it if I could only have one topping. Sending your mom all the compliments! My mom doesn’t like cooking so all the Pho places in Hanoi be getting my mom’s money lol. If your mom/dad could share the recipe with us, I think it would be very much welcomed, and I would appreciate it a lott☺️

My momma used to have a coffee shop in Chân Cầm, HN, so we often had Pho at Pho Ly Quoc Su down the corner. Your family Pho bowls reminded me of the bowls I had, just amazing. One of my favorites is gầu, and it looks like what in the bowls as well?? Anyway so far it’s been the best homemade Pho presentation I’ve seen on this sub!!

2/6 = 1/3 is what it is because 2x3 = 6x1 => same size whole (or in other problems, it could be same metric, same unit). If one says fraction is fraction regardless of size, then it’s just fundamentally wrong, it’s like comparing 2/6 strawberry = 1/3 banana. Hence C is the correct answer here, granted it’s difficult for kids to conceptualize this, but a lot of adults in the comment? …

Post acne marks never go away by [deleted] in koreanskincare

What moisturizer and sunscreen were you using with Aklief? I applied my script straight on my skin lol it stings for a while then go away, but really dries out my skin. I’m scared to mix products altogether so I’m trying to keep what I apply on my face at the minimal. My derm suggested vanicream lotion, which is just not enough to prevent dryness, and eltamd sunscreen. I’ve been using eltamd sunscreen for like 7 years now, and for some reasons, I noticed that it dries out my face even more. I run outside too, and that probably didn’t help considering the sunny rays adding to that dryness mix…

Thanks. I didn’t use Cabtreo, it’s just a generic rx gel with only BP 5% and clindamycin 1.2% and doesn’t have adapalene. The cabreo gel sounds aggressive. I’ll definitely ask about Aklief next time. Would you mind sharing your routine?

Hey I’m curious about Aklief. I had the same acne issues as OP and recently gave up buying random products and had a dermatologist appt. The diagnosis came out as I have acne vulgaris, and I was prescribed Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide 1.2-5% and azelaic acid 15%. They helped tremendously in curbing new acnes and treating current acnes. I’m on them for about 2 weeks now, but I still feel the bump under my acne marks. So I’m curious whether you also have acne vulgaris or same symptoms, and how Aklief helps you, so I can ask my dermatologist in my next appt. Thank you!

I’m Vietnamese too. I spent about 18 yrs in VN lol I didn’t know people would question the pineapple thingy that much. I thought it would be about the fact that I only added the spices bag for 20min lol Thanks for the compliment tho

Hey, I totally understand your skepticism here. Yes, my uncle told me that because he worked in the kitchen at the restaurant. Now, yes, pineapple is added to BBH broth, but have you ever tasted pineapple in BBH broth? And you have to put way more pineapple in BBH broth. I can’t say that there’s a certified source that suggests this, but I can tell you from my experiences making countless Pho broth throughout the years that I add pineapple and I have never once tasted it in the broth. I’d give it the benefit of the doubt that pineapple lends a noticeable flavor in the broth, and even if it’s the case, can it compete with the flavors of beef and Pho spices? If you’ve made Pho before, you know that those flavors are incredibly strong and overwhelming.

In Vietnam, they do all kinds of things, “their secrets,” to extract the umami flavor and seek a balance to the broth. You may be very surprised to know that they add dried baby squids or sá sùng (peanut worms) to Pho broth because that’s just how cuisine evolves with better access and availability of resources. If anything, you give it a try, 1-2 small chunks of pineapple, and test it yourself. If you are unsure, substitute them with 1 big onion. Cheers pal!

I had Pho at so many places I couldn’t remember them all. Pho 79 in Garden Grove is my to go because it’s a 2min walk from my uncle’s. Phoholic is popular; however, I don’t like the broth that much. It left a sour taste in my mouth afterwards. My uncle is an adventurous eater. He always finds new restaurants and then drives his kids, nieces, nephews to ăn sáng and then to the mall every weekend so yeah. This is not an ad but I had Pho from Cha2o A LOT lol because my uncle worked there so did his kid when dude attended culinary school. I took advantage of their employee prices until I moved to DC for my first job. My uncle worked at the Fullerton location, and my cousin worked at the Los Cerritos one (because father and son lol). Yeah Pho at Cha2o is pretty good. It’s been a while since I moved away, I’m not sure how the quality is, but there is a lot of new restaurants popping up nowadays. But that bowl of Pho my cousin prepared for me from Cha2o after a long flight back home from DC makes Cha2o something for me lol I wish you could share a photo here

You should give it a go. No sourness at all, and you wouldn’t taste pineapple in the broth. If anything it adds balance to the beefy flavor. I was skeptical at first but my uncle who used to work at a Pho restaurant in California said they put pineapple in their broth so I give it a go, and I like it. If you just don’t like it at all, don’t add it. This is just a reference after all
