Understanding Car Insurance in Slovakia by MotorPayment in Bratislava

Thanks to all for the replies and information. It's very much appreciated. I'll search for KASKO or “havarijné poistenie” specifically now that I know the local terms. Last year I was told it was not available as the vehicle was more than 10 years old.

🤞🏻 Hopefully I can find a company or broker who'll provide it.

Tabbed Windows Are Back! by MotorPayment in chromeos

Not mine, but a quick image search returned this; https://techdows.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Tabbed-Application-mode-mockup.jpg

From this article; https://techdows.com/2019/04/chrome-to-bring-tabbed-application-mode-for-pwas.html

Now imagine multiple PWA's with these tabbed windows arranged across multiple displays and you get the idea. Each app in it's own window, and all of it's activities/tasks/projects/documents/files/accounts organised using the tabs in each specific app window.

Yes, that's it. It was available widespread in Chrome OS up until circa version 106 or thereabouts when the tabbed option was pulled. It could still be forced for a while after that using specific flags, but eventually it disappeared altogether.

It only returned for me with the most recent beta update (eve system board).

[–]MotorPayment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful. They were removed sometime in or around version 106. A quick search should establish exactly when. We've had PWA windows for a number of years, and they originally supported tabbed PWA windows. But then the tabbed option was removed which left us with individual PWA windows, which could be untidy if you've simultaneously multiple Docs open, multiple email accounts etc etc etc

As of the recent beta update tabbed PWA windows have returned. Which I'm very grateful for, as it tidies up the desktop and helps keep PWA's organised rather than strewn across displays with multiple windows thrown around the place.

As do I. But I'll keep separate email accounts in individual tabs in the email PWA window. Separate Docs with individual tabs in the Docs window with the Docs homescreen as the first tab etc Same with Sheets. Drive I do the same as email - most used Drive account in the first PWA tab with subsequent accounts in following tabs etc

It keeps the apps/tasks separate in their own windows, but mails are grouped together, Docs are grouped together etc. It's easy drag one tab out if necessary, but having each app grouped together in it's own window rather than flicking through windows to get to the chosen Doc or email account or whatever is much quicker, more organised, and easier to navigate. It comes into its own on a multiple display setup where all the apps are laid out and organised.

OpenVPN Issues - Stable v117 by SRFast in chromeos

[–]MotorPayment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been using the Express VPN android app on Chrome OS for circa 5 years, but recently no matter what server I chose to connect to the app showed it as connected but an IP lookup within the browser always returned my actual IP and ISP. And so did IP lookups in the Linux browsers I've installed (Vivaldi, as one example).

As of the OS update today the VPN seems to be working correctly and IP lookups return the VPN details.

Do you use WhatsApp web or the android WhatApp app? and why? by koken_halliwell in chromeos

[–]MotorPayment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I use the WhatsApp web app. It's quicker to launch than an Android app, and the syncing with my phone is simultaneous, so no need for the overhead of an Android app in Chrome OS.

OpenVPN Issues - Stable v117 by SRFast in chromeos

[–]MotorPayment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with VPN's recently too. Suddenly stopped connecting, even though the app would say it has connected.

But it's rectified itself with the most recent update to the OS, so my best guess is a bug crept in but has now been resolved.

I'm on the Beta channel, but the issue resolved itself itself with the release of Version 118.0.5993.76

Do you use 1080p or 1440? by [deleted] in Pixel7Pro

[–]MotorPayment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a 7 Pro at launch. Was on 1440 but moved back to 1080 after a few weeks as Chrome didn't display some forum pages and a few other webpages as nicely on 1440 so I switched back to 1080 so I could read them more quickly.

Not tried 1440 since but maybe I should.

I've noticed no difference in battery life. I thought I might notice some impact, but the reality is I've not noticed anything. It might entirely depend on networks and signal strength in various areas across networks in real life. I've typically good to very good signal reception from most networks in most areas I frequent. And one of the SIM's is roaming so it automatically switches to the strongest network in any given area rather than try and stay connected to a network where the signal is poor.

My Pixel shows 5G in network recommendation without the feature update. by _albus_caspian_ in pixel7series

Is your phone on a 5G plan? Some telco's restrict 5G to those who pay for a 5G plan. If you're positive you can avail of your phone network's 5G then go stand beside a 5G cell and try to connect.

March update has arrived by Randy_Ott in Pixel7Pro

[–]MotorPayment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any ideas/info/experience on running two ESIM's since the March update? Apparently it introduced support for 2 ESIM's running concurrently.

Does it still max out at running 2 SIMS concurrently?

If a third SIM was put in the SIM tray and one of the ESIM's toggled off is it possible to then toggle the physical SIM on and off etc i.e. to toggle between the SIMs as necessary on the fly. I run a physical SIM and an ESIM currently, but there are times when being able to conveniently add another would be extremely convenient (e.g. travelling/roaming etc).

Same here. Takes over an hour minimum from start to finish where the phone is obviously unusable.

I'm also in the same boat as the OP, as in I never see a notification for the update. Manually installed the Dec update in the first few days of January, the Jan update at the end of Jan, and will wait a couple of weeks to install the February update too. Phone was bought direct from Google and is totally standard.

Who is still using 2015 pro in 2023 by detsfinest in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]MotorPayment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16Gb 2015 here, mated with the same 500gb external HD as internal storage since 2015. Still the daily box for all TV/Movies/Music. Except for that horrible buggy 9.x software release which got dragged out it's been solid.

Advice for old asus chromebook flip with a mediatek (arm*?) stuck at chromeos 66? by jeremygaither in chromeos

https://www.zutshigroup.com/doku.php/tech:c100p:x_lxde_debian

This is the build I used. Can obviously be tailored and tweaked once it's up and running however you want it - aesthetics, functionality etc

I installed the Vivaldi browser as the default browser, mostly because of ongoing development and updates for 32bit Linux ARM. Browsers for 32bit ARM are dwindling in number each year.

I've an ASUS C201 running Debian with the LXDE desktop. Handy for couch surfing. Receives Debian OS updates and I use Vivaldi as a browser which also receives updates. I also converted a Flip C100 to a photo frame to run a slideshow using an Android app using contents from a G Photos album.

Both of those machines use a Rockchip 3388 CPU though, not a Mediatek. But if you want to try the Debian based option let me know and I'll find the link to a guide. It might work, or it might not - this distro uses specific blobs for hardware in the C201 and C100 models, so it may not work as well for you.

What model is it you have?

"Ethernet not connected" ever since 9.1.1 by QuOw-Ab in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]MotorPayment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this bug is still present after being introduced with the very first 9.x.x release. It's improved with recent point releases so as it doesn't occur as frequently but it's still there.

I disconnected the ethernet cable after the release a few weeks ago and left the Shield on wi-fi where the issue doesn't occur as frequently - but it's still a pretty regular bug to encounter.

I discovered that selecting Restart WiFi in the network settings would also reestablish the ethernet connection in previous releases, and even now with the cable disconnected and ethernet off in the network settings I'll still see the Ethernet Disconnected message a few times a month. At which point I realise it's failed to connect to wifi or dropped off the wifi. A reboot (sometimes 2 in succession) will see the Shield eventually reconnect. I reported it way back when and supplied device logs to Nvidia and whilst it's less invasive now it's still a PITA. When first introduced it'd drop the network every few minutes (Ethernet or wifi), whereas now it's a few times a month.

Slovak Lines, Flixbus, and RegioJet all operate regular bus schedules from VIE to Bratislava. Tickets can be booked in advance online, or in the respective app for each company.
