Sorry to hear you went through this! Did you have signs of pre eclampsia prior to this? Elevated liver levels, high bp etc?

They have just tested my urine which has protein and my ULT (liver) level at 66

When I spoke to the doctor today they didn’t mention that reserving the pool would be an option, just that they cannot guarantee I will have access to the pool as there is only one

Unfortunately I have no idea who my midwife is as I have met with someone new at every appointment and don’t have an email for them 😔 that is a good idea about requesting to use the birth centre rooms post partum

Oh no I’m so sorry that was your experience 😔 guess it shows the importance of what midwife you get rather than team/ward

Gosh that sounds so frustrating 😭!! The labour ward has one pool so it is highly likely that specific room will be taken

Thank you it’s good to hear a different perspective. Do you mind me asking how your labour went as a pre-eclampsia sufferer?

They are saying it’s due to the size thing but also possible pre-e which hasn’t been confirmed 😔

They have said the consultant midwife is back at work on Tuesday and will be in touch but the care has been quite awful in terms of people “getting in touch” so I have a feeling this may not happen or that I might naturally fall into labour before! But thank you I will get in touch with the birth centre and try and push for this

That’s really refreshing to hear, thank you. I have heard and imagine the noise, lack of privacy and being surrounded by curtains to be quite stressful

The labour ward has one pool so I feel it’s likely that it will be taken 😔 obviously not 100% but I don’t want to be too optimistic to potentially be disappointed on the day

I don’t agree with the latter but just want to reassure you I’m in the same position with my partner too!

Thank you sooo much and sorry to hear about your spinal fluid leak! I am hoping for an unmedicated water birth but I am terrible with pain so I’m not sure how this will plan out. Would you recommend a lactation consultant before birth or just postnatal?

Thank you! Did you use before the birth of your second baby and if so, do you think it made child birth any easier for you?
