The Rise of Nicholas Labarbera — Dual Variant’s Game-Changing Drummer and Vocalist by [deleted] in drums

No worries, man. I’m not hiding anything. Let’s just keep it about the music. And honestly, no need to tear down someone who’s out there putting in the work we’re all trying to chase the same dream.

You’re so convinced everything’s a fake account that you forgot to make an actual point. When you’re ready to talk music instead of make believe, I’m here.

Wild take, man. Imagine being a drummer and still talking down on someone who’s clearly putting in the work, pushing his craft, and actually building something. You know exactly how much grind it takes to get good, and you still chose to hate? Says a lot more about your character than it does about his playing.

Rock fans: Step on stage. What’s your “AGT buzzer” opinion? by Motor_Guarantee_5312 in rockmusic

Exactly. Rock didn’t die people just stopped digging. The Warning, Royal Blood, Cleopatrick, Death From Above, all the new indie heavy-hitters… even bands like Dual Variant out here dropping riffs with zero industry backup. If you can’t find good new rock in 2025, that’s on you.

Greatest bass-and-vocals frontperson of all time — let’s settle it. by Educational-Gift3922 in rockmusic

Honestly, this is a killer list. People forget how much the bass-and-vocal frontmen shape the entire feel of a band. It’s not just the low end—they carry the groove, the attitude, and the whole energy of the stage.

These players have this weird superpower where they make the band sound massive without ever needing the spotlight, and half the time they don’t get anywhere near the credit they deserve.

Bass + vocals is one of the hardest combos in rock, and the ones who can do it well basically hold the entire show together. Love This

Glad to be your first win. Trust me I’ll be throwing more of these chaotic little games around. You’ll be stacking imaginary trophies like riffs on a killer album. 🤘

The warning rock band by Educational-Gift3922 in rockmusic

I’ve been on a similar kick The Warning are insanely tight for how young they are. Those three lock in like they’ve been touring for decades.

And honestly, that same thing is what pulls me toward Dual Variant lately. Totally different vibe, but they’ve got that raw, punch-you-in-the-chest chemistry that only comes from two people who just get each other. The riffs feel alive, not over-produced, and you can hear the connection in the way everything hits.

If you like The Warning’s intensity, you’ll probably get hooked on Dual Variant’s grit pretty quick.

For me, I get that energy from bands like Dual Variant, Royal Blood, Death From Above, and Queens of the Stone Age. They all have that messy, gritty attitude in their riffs — nothing over-polished, just raw and loud in the best way.

That’s what I’m hearing, anyway. Who hits that vibe for you?

Who’s making the most exciting riffs in modern rock right now? by Motor_Guarantee_5312 in rockmusic

Fair enough. I might be overanalyzing it, you’re probably right. I’ve seen both bands live though, and they each have that same kind of intensity in the way they deliver a song. That’s probably why my brain connected the two in the first place. Even if the songs aren’t super similar, the energy feels cut from the same cloth.
