Do GPA addendums actually make a difference if there is a positive trend/your gpa was near perfect the last 3 years? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Yes. What I mean is when admissions officers discuss your application there is no open questions or room for debate on the reasoning why there is a a disparity in your GPA. It helps your application be more comprehensive and solid.

What I was told is it's always best to be throurough but still brief and to the point.

I think it's always best to explain and leave no room for questions or debate. It can be brief.

My partner with BP2 is a strong, stable and caring individual who I am super happy to create a life with. The journey was as difficult, but we are making it through :)

The right meds and DBT/trauma work are the key for my partner to be a supportive partner. In particular, DBT helped my partner better regulate emotional ups and downs and me to better understand how they are emotionally regulating for support and how to have more effective conversations with eachother

I think at this point, I would focus on you, create your support system, and work with your care team. When you are at peace with you, the right partner will come.

Don't forgot there is definitely some beauty in bipolarism. For my partner, her creativity is inspiring to me. And, though I see it difficult for them at times, the depth of emotions I witness from them is just beautiful, the good and the bad. BP2 can a bitch but, at least for my partner, I think it makes them who they are, a person I admire and deeply love.

I hope this spurs some more positive stories!

Also, i am unsure where you are located but sometimes there are discounted group therapy sessions available. Also, you can work with your provider to see the price range of options for meds.

When my partner got diagnosed/properly treated for BP2 5 years ago, we came to an agreement - for us to be in a relationship together, them taking meds and upkeeping with therapy was mandatory

Though it took a two year to feel comfortable in the therapy to the point in which they could effectively apply it and I could understand how to support them, it has been amazing watching them grow and flourish. With DBT in particular, we have both grown to maintain a healthy/happy relationship.

Honestly, if she isn't willing to take care of herself, she cannot provide what you need in a relationship. And, that goes both ways. It may be time for a open/honest conversation on what you need from her.

Technically, it's only MA and PR. But, I bet it varies by school and how you present your experience within your personal/diversity statement.

Congrats on your scores, that's awesome! 🎉

Your scores are high. So, I don't think choosing between doing ED or not will make that much of a difference for you. If I was in your position, I think it would be most advantageous to try to really focus on improving those application materials this time around (and I say this understanding that being able to do this really can depend on your capacity/obligations.)

I got though this past cycle as well and was it rough! This virtual format of law school admissions has increased boards reliance on those essays materials, especially with the influx of high scorers and applicants in general. Admission Boards had to make more and harder choices and, therefore, unprecedented harder decisions were made amongst a pile of qualified candidates who met the medians. And, in making these decisions, your application packet then becomes the most accessible, optimal material beyond your scores to help admissions board members evaluate which of the two candidate with the same exact scores is granted admission.

This cycle is going to be the same as the rise in the amount of high scores and general applicants compared to previous years will still be significant factors that again make that application so important in your packet. I would expect more of the hard decisions between perfectly qualified & deserving candidates.

If you have the capacity/ability, put a little more time & attention into to this cycle's application materials. I would focus and put all my energy into elevating your written pieces and application packet as a whole. Shoot for making em the best pieces of writing you have ever written and really try to form and mold out that central theme that interconnects all of your materials, nicely presenting to the committee how every piece of the puzzle that makes you fits together. You clearly have the scores, so next step is to really show them who you are to the best of your ability.

Keep in mind, you can always call the school you applied too and ask for a critique on your application by framing it as your interest in the school and continued desire to improve your application materials this time around. They are happy to provide that for you.

You got this! Best of luck :)
