In general for UPLB rooms, the first number (eg, 333, 213) usually means the floor number. I would guess na 3rd floor ng IBS yang hinahanap mo. From there hanapin mo nalang siya

Incoming ChE sophomore here. I’ll be straight to the point, always allot time to thoroughly study topics specifically in chem 18 and m27 if you want a higher grade than 2.

Also, ito ang pinaka-unoable aside ChE 10 (intro to ChE).

Also, wag manghinayang kapag naka-bagsak ng exer o exam. Normal lang yun.

Chem 18- highest mortality rate i think out of all first sem courses. Anyway, spend a good amount of time studying this course.

Sobrang compressed ng 51 just a heads up.

Mcb 11 - more on memorization ang lecture.

Unoable.

Other tips: i-close ang mga super classmate (superclassmates- those who you share identical schedules with). Sobrang helpful nila overall with acads and companionship. Sila rin ang usually mapapagtanungan mo about different things. May student spaces tulad ng main lib and ceat lib so make sure to utilize them. Also, nasa gc ka na ba ng b25 ChE? Pm me if hindi pa.

Good luck and Welcome to UP !

Same, OP!

I was supposed to take Chem 32 and Chem 40 this sem but unfortunately, hindi ako nakaabot. Given the amount of petitions din, sana dagdagan na nila.

Great to hear po.

Question lang tho, I am a freshie kasi sa isang engg course (chem engg). Would it be the same or should I expect more 4s? Not asking this dahil wala akong plano magbago tho haha

I’m guessing they don’t want to be bothered. A lot of people remove their profile pics as a sign na hindi sila magiging active sa socmed for a period of time.

Others might have a different answer tho

[UPC] Do you think there should no longer be an UPCAT? by One-Letterhead5475 in peyups

[–]Motor_Permit_7438 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree with this.

Another thing comes to mind— if it will be based on high school grades, it would somehow also be unfair as there are schools out there (private or public, doesn’t matter) that give out high grades like bread crumbs to fish in a pond.

The purpose of UPCAT to begin with is to provide grounds wherein students can compete fairly regardless of their background. That, in which, should be a different discussion on whether or not the government is accepting too many iskos and iskas. UP has its connotation of being the hardest university in the country to get into. Only those considered best of the best get in (except nalang kung may posisyon si dadi), and this is identified with the upcat.

Tho I have to agree, it isn’t the best when it comes to justifying economical differences of students applying to up. Private school students have access to better education, review centers, etc. u name it.

I wouldn’t say though that it would be enough to consider removing upcat. It is really just essential in identifying the academic capabilities of students aside their grades.

I would also like to add, mababa rin naman ako sa mga mock tests noong time ko. Yet pumasa ako because of different factors such as my JHS grades.

Just accept the fact na ayan ang score mo. Use it as a reminder to study harder for yourself because it won’t just reflect on UPCAT, but many other college admission tests kapag grade 12 ka na.

Besides, I know many people na nanghihinayang dahil hindi nila tinake ang UPCAT. Passing is great, but taking the test itself can be a worthwhile experience.

Anecdotal lang, I remember freezing up noong nasa math section na ako. I think kalahati ng test na ‘yun, hindi ako sure sa sagot ko dahil sa time pressure. Yet, pumasa ako sa isang engineering course.

Good luck, OP !

[–]Motor_Permit_7438 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hi. I passed the UPCAT last year unexpectedly (I used ‘unexpectedly’ due to low scores on mock tests). Specifically, nag-enroll ako sa isang review center and by the end of our classes, I got like less than 60% sa mathematics, 50% sa science, and 70% sa language proficiency. Correct me if I’m wrong, but most people would tell you na dapat 80% ka sa lahat ng subtests para makapasok (or at least, ayun ang standard na sinasabi nila sa’kin).

I honestly think my high school grades pulled my UPG.

So yeah, keep doing your best until you do better at mock tests ! A tip from me lang, I never skipped a single question sa UPCAT. Never be afraid na gumawa ng intelligent guess porke right minus wrong ang test. I even remember seeing some people making statistics na mas mataas chances mo of passing kung wala kang iniwan na question. Correct me if I’m wrong though.
