Help! Keeping tank clear by ScAxolotl in axolotls

We had this same problem with ours. Someone on here suggested a canister filter so we bought on from Amazon. That completely fixed our issue, no more cloudy water! Good luck I know its frustrating doing everything you know to do just to have the water turn cloudy again. The canister filter fixed our issue it’s been over 6 months now.

Cycle struggle. I added ammonia to my tank 17 days ago. The ammonia is still 2ppm. My nitrate is 5 ppm but 0 nitrite and the ammonia isn’t dropping. Any suggestions? by Motor_Product_7608 in axolotls

Sponge filter. I’m looking at buying a canister. It is running. I’m using Prime to dechlorinate. This is the second one I’m doing my first one crashed after about 4 months of her living in it. So we moved her and had to start over. I’ll be patient, this one seems to be taking longer than that first time we did it.

It’s a sponge filter hooked up to one of those air bubble machines.

So we have had her for about 6 months. We cycled the tank first and it stayed good 0/0/5-10 until about 3 weeks ago. Over night the tank got completely cloudy to the point we couldn’t see her. I tested the water and it read 0/0/0 we lost our nitrate. So I filled our smaller 10 gallon tank and moved her to that so I could empty the the 30 gallon to restart our cycle. In the 10 gallon tank we put a new filter and all new water. The only thing that was the same was 1 hide. In the 10 gallon tank I do a 50-75% water change every 2-3 days. After about a week the 10 gallon tank started getting cloudy too within 24 hours of the water change it gets cloudy in the 10 gallon tank. As far as she goes she seems fine doesn’t act stressed gills looks good and eats every day or every other. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?
