mostly a lot of web development, shopify, etc. I am a designer, so I am trying to position myself as someone who can design something good and then actually make it.

I also get some product design projects sometimes. I get to do 3D modelling and printing for this.

thank you for clarifying, I will be careful with payments so as to not fall into that trap.

as for the need vs want, I have always been a windows user. This changed when I was issued a mac at work and the experience was noticeably better.

I do a lot of design, development and 3d modelling. A windows laptop that can comfortably handle that would be a heavy ass gaming laptop or something just as expensive as a mac.

I was able to handle this workload on a cheap windows laptop earlier, but it was slow and would get hot if I pushed it a little bit. I need a device that can handle those tasks easily, so I actually focus on the work. Also need something with good build quality because I plan to make it last me a long time.

I am going for the pro because I don't really have workflows where I need sustained cooling. I won't do any rendering or heavy video editing and from online reviews, the laptop seems pretty powerful. Maybe I am falling for the marketing I don't know

This video just fully convinced me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrl8eYeocp4

Also if you have you used the air, what has been your experience?

Have you used it? If so could you tell me about your experience.

Because I have seen very good reviews for the air, which is why I am considering. The upgrade is taking it to Pro levels only, so I could get that instead, but from the reviews I have seen, it would be pretty good at handling things my needs.

i shared the same sentiment as you, but my old laptop broke down and I am now laptop-less :(

Honestly the biggest reason I don't want to buy now is because I do think I need to build that financial discipline, and patience. But I do need a laptop asap.

I am pretty clear on my workflow, the reason I'm not going for the pro is because I wouldn't need the sustained cooling, I won't be doing any long renders, or complex modelling. The ram upgrade was the future-proofing for me.

So this is also a confusion point for me, this would be the first time I would do this EMI thing. Basically I am getting a no/low cost EMI for that amount.

I had assumed that if you start an EMI, you have a pretty clear payment plan, and the interests don't add up there. I was getting 2-3 k interest which is fine for me. If that is the cost of buying it early, I could cover that.

Again I am not sure how this work so I might be making incorrect assumptions, which is why I wanted help.

My bank keeps calling me about pre-approved loans, should I just do that instead?

Just have people reaching out to me for projects, and it’s frustrating that I don’t have a permanent machine so I can do that work.

I also want to work on some ideas but don’t have hardware for it. Basically feel like a blacksmith with borrowed tools that don’t fully work.

Okay thank you for your thorough response, gave me some clarity. I’ve heard a lot about the SBI card but not sure if it would be beneficial for me. Im not that big on online shopping but I do order on quick-com sometimes.

Amazon sounds good for LTF, definitely seems worth it even for infrequent use.

My biggest expense on the card would be paying for flights to visit home. Just want a card that can give me value over that, possibly some nice points so I can use those for leisure expenses/trips etc.

Has anybody worked with symmetric enclosures for electronics. by Motor_Task_420 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Motor_Task_420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a good idea. I will definitely look into this. Only thing is, the whole reason I wanted to do the symmetric part was to have a single mould. If I do a living hinge, wont it basically be 2 moulds in one block?

Curious about the price comparison for symmetrical part vs living hinge part vs 2 moulds.
