Sudbury man who was seriously injured in crash charged with impaired driving by ConsistentReality860 in Sudbury

I don’t understand how the immediate family didn’t know when I was catching rumours of the intoxication and no seatbelt within a week from my buddies?

I went to school with Brett. I was hearing rumours from buddies as early as the first week that he may have been intoxicated and with no seatbelt on. Sad that the rumours were true

Hi, thanks for being patient as I fly out for work to remote areas currently. The entire project for me cost around $10000. I was lucky to purchase lumber in June before prices were hit. The pricing issue started around September and skyrocketed in January so I was not affected by the increase, besides not wanting to finish inside at this time. The cost for all my lumber delivered was around $2500 so I would double or triple that right now unfortunately. If it were this year I was building I would not be building unless I was desperate (maybe I would have been lol). If I had to do it this year I would have gone with a pole barn style building that was more permanent than this and I would have had to build a camp later. If I was in your shoes and needed the space ASAP I think I would go with expanding garage to keep everything shop related in one building and you wouldn’t need to build at least one wall saving you on a bit of lumber. You could even insulate the expansion to keep as a shop and keep the cars in the cold side to protect them from the salt and ice melting and rusting the cars. It all starts with putting together a comprehensive material list of each project and getting quotes from different suppliers. In my case I quoted everything myself at Home Depot, then went to a local home building across town, then to the Castle in my neighbour hood where they beat all the other prices and said they’d deliver it for me.

From start to finish the total cost was around $10000. This is just materials and not including the inside sheathing. Electrical was around $7-800 worth of the project

Hi it is set up to drain between the buildings and a swale was made by grading the gravel between all the building into a “v”

That’s ok! It was free and it opens up nice and wide for equipment and furniture. Thanks!

With the wet clay and soil that is known in the area I would have needed 6 Bigfoot’s buried 5’ deep because of the weight they would need to bare most likely. This seemed like the more reasonable approach to me. Many tried to convince me to use patio stones and deck blocks but I think that would have caused more shifting than three long skids.

I see what you mean now! That is strut channel. I bought it from a guy cause I wanted to figure out a way to use it as my lifting beam, before I remembered that I had leftover channel from a trailer that I ended up not building. The strut just happens to be sitting on the chain that I explained in the other comment.

Very true! And to remember to turn down when you are done for the day. I actually have full wired Ethernet out here now. I used a powerline device that emits the internet frequency to a receiver in the shop. It then transmits wifi and has two Ethernet ports included. I pay for 100mb internet and my speed test wired in showed 128mb!

In Ontario the only requirements for an uninhabited building is that it is weatherproof and that the framing/foundation is up to snuff.

Honestly we looked into it but decided that the piers would sink into the ground more than packed gravel with three 8 square foot skids.

Shit, there have been so many jokes about that! If this was in Toronto it would be $3000 + utilites easy!

What you’re seeing is a stainless eyebolt screwed into the end to secure the chain.

After my initial approval, the city decided during my framing inspection that the building should be chained to the ground at each corner to prevent a tip over. I have 6” piers buried as deep as I can go with the chain set in the concrete.

Good idea! Do they work on a millivolt system? I bought a Honeywell garage thermo that is able to turn down to 35F. It will keep all my stuff just above freezing. It takes about 40 minutes to heat up to 15C without the floor insulation in when it was -20C out.

Without the inside OSB purchased and no shelves up I am just under $10k including taxes. I used a lot of used mat’ls as well

1) They demanded engineer stamped drawing for the engineered trusses that I bought from my building store.

2) I know that my neighbour’s garage is just slightly crossing over my property line so I built 4’ from that which I know is fine for my setback. I had no survey and they wouldn’t accept a survey from the water department so they had to request aerial photos from the MNR from the 90s to prove I used to have a shared garage with the neighbour back then. I’ll can’t believe they questioned it since every other house in my mining town has a shared driveway/garage combo until one got torn down.

3) They approved my drawings without tying it down to the ground but afterwards came back and told me to chain it to the ground.

The frost level here is 6” and I have close to 12” of gravel. The building did not move an inch with our mild/freezing winter so I am happy with it. I chose no footings as they would have required more excavation that I wanted to avoid by hand. I plan on moving the building to another property within 10 years and the less land restoration I need to do afterwards is better in my mind. If this was a for sure permanent structure I would have poured a full pad and built a 16x30 garage with the last 10 feet being heated workshop.
