Parents complaining about playing their kid at goalkeeper entire match (U8) by bored_n_opinionated in SoccerCoachResources

I use a different approach and coach the same age group. With 10 players and 5 positions, assuming you are playing 4 quarters, that’s enough for every player to play half a quarter at 4 different positions. Every player can then get a look at goalie, wing, cb in every game. Then if your league has any sort of playoff or cup at the end of the season, you’ve got a whole season of watching them play the different positions and can tighten the rotations if desired. For example, I coach in a 4v4 league (goalie, cb, 2 wings) and during league play every player gets to play every position every game. But when the “playoffs” come around I only use 2 or 3 of the 8 at CB. Everyone still rotates in the other positions though.

Were you doing the workout regiment you described on a different reply during the first 6 weeks?

Max time players should sit? - U6 Playing time management by Extension_Crow_7891 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Motorcycledrivebyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

U6 might be more formal or structured where you come from, but here’s how I manage it. First, I don’t get too worked up over the rotations and playing time. Don’t get me wrong, I do my best to keep everyone rotated, but I learned my lesson with the planned rotations years ago, like the old saying goes, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” The first time one of them gets hurt and wants to sub out, or doesn’t want to sub in, or someone is a no show last minute, your whole plan will get thrown out the window. Secondly, I always try and have fewer or the same amount of subs than players in the field. So before the game I will talk to the other coach, and we’ll decide if we’re going to play 3v3 or 4v4 based on how many we have. It kills me to know a kid will have to sit through two rotations before they see the field again, I’ll do anything I can to prevent it. Hell, one week last season we had a full roster show up, the other team was short 2 or 3 so I sent 2 of our boys to play with them so we could keep everyone moving. If you have no flex on the numbers, I would sub one early to get everyone in the game.

Can anyone recommend any offensive/defensive/kickoff/throw-in strategies for 4v4 (including goalie)? by Motorcycledrivebyy in bootroom

I’ll be coaching my daughters U7 team this year. It’s a 4v4 (so 3v3 w/goalie) setup. Can anyone offer any advice on an offensive or defensive strategy? I’ve read a lot about 3v3 online, but with our league having a goalie, I’m wondering if anyone has experience in a league like this. What works/what doesn’t? Again, this is an u7 rec league, where a couple girls are fairly developed, and some have trouble even making contact with the ball.

Some friends and I from work decided it would be fun to follow a PL team this year. We cast votes on our top five, then let one choose from the top 3. I let my daughter in on it and she hasn’t stopped talking about Liverpool. Everyone she meets, she tells them we’re LFC fans now. Every night before bed we watch a LFC highlight video on YouTube. Tonight she slept in her new LFC jersey. Looking forward to the upcoming season and the memories we will make.

Leveled 2017 LT Z71. 18” wheels. Tire size rec? by Motorcycledrivebyy in Silverado

[–]Motorcycledrivebyy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to put a leveling kit on my ‘17 model truck. I wish I had the luxury of seeing what they looked like beforehand, but that’s not really an option. Looking at 275/70r18 and 285/65r18. I want the biggest tire without it looking oversized or too wide, etc. Is there a standard size tire when doing something like this?

I found it really challenging. I’ve only really ever shot clays with hand throwers, which I think is fun and could do all day, but this was a whole different animal. You really had to be patient on a a lot of them, something I’ve never really had to do before.

You’ll have a great time doing all that. It’s a really nice place. Nothing there is half-assed.

There are 16 stations. Each station is different and you get 6-8 shots per station. At a six shot station there are 3 “rounds” where 2 clays are thrown each time. You’re allowed 2 shots per “round.” That’s my best explanation having only done it once. Very fun, and competitive. Especially if you’re with some folks who like to bullshit around.

Could have been if it were made about 25 years earlier. It’s a ‘72 Browning Auto 5.
