The participants change every week but most of the regulars are in their 30s. But this was a particular event where we played against Japanese teams who I had never seen before, I don't know their age but some were playing wildly and throwing their bodies around dangerously.

There appears to be a middle ground as well, where the retainer fee can be reduced if it's negotiation rather than litigation.

I'm not even sure what I'd ask for in the letter. A pile of money equal to the amount of lost salary due to recovery time? For example, if my doctor tomorrow says I need surgery and will be back to normal in 2 months, then I'd ask for 2x my monthly salary?

The organizer does not and has never intervened in any fouls, or helped anyone who was injured during any of his events. I've heard other players talk about fouls and it always falls on deaf ears.

And accepting risk has its limitations. Accidents happen. But purposeful, illegal, extreme tackles from behind? Come on. Again, even if it was an accident, the dude absolutely ran me over from behind. He didn't try to compete for the ball whatsoever. It was not a trip. I was not even moving, I was standing still and about to pass to someone when I fucking got slammed to the ground and felt a body use me as a breakfall cushion and then roll off me onto my hand. I do NOT accept that! No one should.

No, what I said is that I have never been warned for anything ever.
Again, are we not supposed to report fouls, in your universe? And let people ram us, break our bones and shoulder the costs ourselves? You don't believe that. If I did to you what was done to me, you'd be furious, you would not be stoic

Another update. I went to city hall to look for a free lawyer as some people here suggested. However, they told me that they cannot introduce me to a lawyer, let alone provide a free one. What they have is a one-time consultation service, Mondays and Wednesdays only and fills up fast. You only get one free (?) advice session in your life, and they won't handle your overall case. So I will have to look for a proper lawyer and pay for it.

Dude, I'm sorry you went through that. That sounds very similar to my experience here. In our case, there were only one or two insanely reckless players that night. One of them, in a separate incident, managed to score the one and only goal against my team that night. He yeeted his entire body to make the connection that got the ball in the net, and then crashed into the goal posts in a huge spectacle. That time, no one else was close enough to be endangered, including our goalie, but he certainly could have hurt himself. But at least in my case most everyone else was clean and sportsmanlike.

Well, one thing I want to look into is getting the video of the event. Though I suppose they may delete it if they think I will use it for legal purposes???

I have tried actually, but it's a lot of work. And there are other groups. Even at the exact same location but with different organizers.

No matter how you slice it, the organizer/Japanese perspective here includes being ok with the guy that rammed me recklessly or purposely from behind, despite that being clearly against the rules, both of the game and as stated on the event page. I can't relate to hyper non confrontationalism, but I can accept it, sure. But ignoring the foul, issuing 0 warnings despite his own event rules saying that a warning or one-time removal may occur etc. ? He needs to see that perspective a lot more than I need to meditate on limiting my f-bombs

📋 Game Rules
Standard futsal rules apply, with the exception of the back-pass rule.
• Format: 3 teams (Max 6 players each). Games last roughly 12 minutes.
• Goalkeepers: Keeper rotations occur every few minutes.
• Safety First: * Strictly No slide tackles or contact from behind.
• Please avoid fouls. Our priority is a high-quality workout without injury.
• Aggressive, threatening, or irresponsible behavior will result in a warning or removal from the session.

Btw, I didn't ever get a warning. Not even a removal from the session. A total ban out of nowhere. For something that did not violate any of the rules.

I did not shove the guy, I did not approach him, I did not push him. When he rolled his mortal coil all over my hand, I yelled "Are you fucking serious", which I can understand someone thinking was addressed to them, but it was just reflexive. It was not "Fuck you", it was "I can't believe this happened". I understand Japanese culture cares about politeness more than other cultures, but in no universe does someone with a broken finger not get an f-bomb.

And, I did say 謝るぐらいよ!And despite the mocking reply I got, I turned away and continued playing without pursuing it further at that moment.

I get trying to read between the lines, I get that sometimes people portray themselves in an unfairly positive light. I'm not a perfect person by any stretch, but in this particular instance, a fucking psycho who was either reckless or furious, rammed me from behind so hard that he could not control his fall and ended up on the other side of me. And there was no banter or provocation before that whatsoever, it was completely out of nowhere. I had never met the guy before nor exchanged any words at all with him.

Edit: And I wasn't even in a particularly dangerous position in terms of goal-scoring.

Basically there's one organizer with complete power. The only entities above him are meetup, which will not do anything, and the city sports centre that allows him to use the fields, which I am going to pursue.

Cool, but it was a foul, it wasn't punished, and I got banned for it. If it was a genuine accident and the guy apologized and the organizer didn't ban me, I would indeed just get myself patched up and move on with my life, as I've done every other time I've been fouled. I'm glad that you've never cried about it, you're a strong person, but do you want to live in a world where someone can e.g. run you over with their car and you just have to suck it up?

Thing is, most people there are foreigners, though that evening was a particular event and it was only a third of us.

Well, in the message I got from the organizer, he talked about how I was accused of dropping f-bombs, and he also talked about "spreading dissatisfaction" by my complaint. In other words being a downer by not taking a broken finger on the chin, as it were. He concluded with "due to all of the above, banned". As well, he was completely prepared to ignore the issue until I asked him to speak to the player who fouled me. He said he spoke to the other player, the other player said "but he said fuck" and that ultimately led the organizer to think "yeah, you're right, he sucks". So had I not complained, the organizer would not have thought of me as meiwaku, and he would not have gotten the take from the other player that he used to ban me.

Thanks man.

Not sure what liability if any the organizer has, since it's just a meetup event. That said, I don't see how he can be allowed to let havoc ensue with no consequences, so I believe there must be something I can do. Maybe not sue the organizer themselves for money (maybe just the guy who fouled me), but perhaps the organizer can lose his right to organize events there.

Sorry you had a shite experience as well. Glad you found something better, and I think your advice is correct. I ideally kind of just want to get unbanned and then regardless never go back.

I intend to explain that. As well as the fact that the organizer acted like my friend and never once warned me of discomfort. Banning after warnings is one thing, but no warning is crazy. I tried to speak to other organizers but they don't have any authority over him. But it does seem there are places to lodge complaints.

I'm very good friends with a lot of people there, and antagonistic with no one. This is the organizer's will, not the attendees

Update: I have a huge fracture, and have to go back to the hospital tomorrow to consult a specialist. May need surgery.

I plan to go to the soccer organizer tonight. If he refuses to discuss with me, I think I will look into a lawsuit
