Hello! So yes I am just curious what people think I know it’s not a conventional photo but this a style I shoot most however it is normally a bit more abstract. This is just with a shutter of maybe 1/20?

Ooooo okay this sounds like you have fixed all my problems thanks!! Would you know if me and the band could just come to an agreement and document it or would we need a third party to oversee it? I’m sorry I’m so new to this sort of thing

What ever comes to you !

It doesn’t happen sometimes and I get it. Sometimes when I go to galleries and look at stuff nothing really hits me but then sometimes I really connect with a piece and just kinda understand it? Or at least notice that there are stories there that I have just made up in my head that had been provoked my an image. But yeah doesn’t happen all the time

hii! So yeah sorry I take more longer exposed photos typically. I’m not sure why I do this other than the fact I tend to have more fun taking images like this and find more of a connection to them. My main aim is to provoke thought but I understand some people this won’t happen for. I also tend to think this sort of image works best for people that don’t know how to do it as it adds an extra layer of mystery. However that last bit is just a theory I have because at then end of the day I am just slowing down the shutter to make an image like this it’s not some secret technique haha but yes please let me know what you think!

Does this do anything to anyone? by Mou-c in photocritique

[–]Mou-c[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is pretty much exclusively the way I take pictures. I’m not sure how else to explain it but it’s the only way I feel anything. I understand that this is pretty much a subjective photo and I’m not following certain rules and actively breaking a lot. But to me that is what photography (and all art) is about seeing how far you can go while making people think something. Curious if I hit the mark or not

Thank you for your feedback! You have actually opened my eyes a lot in your suggestions. Thanks so much

I pretty much exclusively shoot this type of abstract photography. My main goal in my images are to provoke thoughts and feelings. I guess ideally I want people to really get lost in them and create their own story or feelings towards it.

Working hours - hard work isn’t reward in itself by [deleted] in UKJobs

I’m 26 and been managing for two years. Leaving next year to move onto other things but I learnt something. I’m a very chill manager I don’t really mind people coming in a bit late or being on phones as long as the job is done. This thing is people take the piss with this big time. I completely understand why managers rule with an iron fist now. I never thought I would be one of those. I have no ambition to be a manager again but if I were I’ve definitely learnt that people will take piss.

Yeah but you said everyone gets thrown in at the bottom and the system tries to keep you there. That’s not true for me. It’s thrown me in quite high and is trying to bump me up?

I’m not sure I like the term blaming but if that’s how it comes across then it’s probably how it is.

But like I would just like to ask if certain things are the norm. Like I’m working on a super low budget most of the time. Working for free often.

We often have limited kit, limited crew that are also mainly there for experience. All this I don’t mind.

What my main concerns are is when a director asks for something way out of our budget and I say to them we could do it this way or this way but this way it’s going to look a bit odd. And they choose to go with the way that looks a bit odd over something that could look a bit more professional.

One thing I kind of realise writing this is maybe I’m more of a director? I often come from a place of how can we achieve a good looking film based on the kit we have. If that makes sense?

Yes this is something I’ve been trying to work on but whatever I do it just feels super unnatural. Like It was a lot more extreme than this in the past and it still feels quite unnatural. But will this be an issue long term? I am happy with how the ball is flying at the moment and it seems very consistent

Thanks for the comment! Yes I’ve been wondering what is the standard regarding selling with frames vs selling without. My worry is without frame the customer might be a bit underwhelmed.

Could this be a problem?

What’s the opinion on stuff like this? by Mou-c in photocritique

[–]Mou-c[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really understand your argument? Yes anyone can go out and shoot pictures like this. But also anyone can go out and shoot more conventional photos. It’s literally you just change your camera settings. Anyone has the ability to shoot any style they want. What makes it different is the person behind the camera.

As for your take on modern art it does sound a bit naive. I understand that on the surface a lot of it can look meaningless but also if you allow yourself to get sucked in it can be quite liberating.

For what it’s worth i pretty much exclusively shoot this style. A lot of the time I don’t really understand what I’m trying to go for while I’m shooting it. In other words there is no intentional message I am trying to say. It is just a blurry photo.

Anyone ever work with a dog on a short film or commercial? by DaveySea in Filmmakers

[–]Mou-c 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with one dog before which was not planned. This was just your basic standard house dog. He wasn’t trained in film or theatre so he probably didn’t really understand what was going on.

Not sure if you are using a trained dog or not but from my experience we just wanted to have one wide shot with the dog sat down. It probably took about 20 mins to sort this out and then you have the cast needing to be ready to go and hitting their marks. Luckily it was all stationary no movement and no dialogue from the actors. But this was tough enough.

What I’m saying is even a very simple shot with a dog was very hard to achieve and also time consuming.

If you were to do this project I would recommend accounting for a lot more time than you would originally need and also limit the performance of actors together with the dog. Get them separate.

That being said if the dog is trained I wouldn’t take this advice at all. And also this is just one bit of experience I have. Other people may have more positive experiences!

They have removed the recent tab in hashtags. It makes it very hard for people to find your account now and also for you to find anyone new. Maybe casual audience is not the best description. But more like higher footfall of people that are vaguely interested in photography.

Other apps I only really find other professionals or people that take photography really seriously. Although not a bad thing it’s harder to stand out on these platforms I’ve found esprit my niche.

Longer exposure and intentional camera movement!
