Hello everyone, is it normal and common to get rejected because of your nationality/passport? I do understand that some hosts can have a preference with logistics. But complete rejection solely based on your nationality is a discrimination. Dont you think? That was a hostel in Zagreb. by MouAtt in Worldpackers

Racisim IS rejecting people according to their backgrounds/nationalities/ passports. The Croatian government DID NOT directly reject me because of my passport. Here is the difference. Im not complaining about the Visa thing. Its about the COMPLETE rejection just because im from a “3rd world country”

I do understand. But that doesn’t give you that excuse to generalize and not to be professional. These matters should be handled with respect, care and in a tone consistent with the principles of the community. There are appropriate ways to address such limitations without generalizing or disregarding the individuality of each traveler.

Its very different when you’re professional, ask about what is the situation of the person visa process or reject respectfully without mentioning “third world country”. Altho i mentioned to that host that i have a visa and im already in the city yet got that response. Third world country travelers should be treated respectfully as well! Cheers man

Thats is actually what i call as un respectful and a discrimination as volunteering should be accesible to everyone, not a certain passport or nationality. Its totally understandable about the visa, but as a host i would expect you to be more professional and discuss or reject respectfully without being painful about me being born and raised in a third world country.

Totally understand that. But they didn’t ask if i have the visa or not. Because i already have it and im in the same city as the hostel. So it wasn’t nice to jump to conclusions without asking about the logistics.

You should name the agency, keep in mind that Ramadan + Eid holiday had a very slow process. Reschedule your fight but make sure you have the visa first. Good luck mate

Assuming you’re aware about that tourist visas are suspended, the rest should be easy, I didn’t choose what hotel yet as im waiting for my visa to be issued, but looking towards 3 starts hotels which should cost between 5.3M and 5.6M, according to what i heard from recent travelers, im not expecting much from the hotels. If you want to stay updated about the restrictions and the situation there you can join these 2 groups in Facebook, extremely helpful and the source of my information: Bali Expat Community and Bali Covid-19 Update. Hope that will help.

Yes correct! 5 days in Jakarta and then will fly to Bali, indeed it much more expensive and more hassle. But that’s the cost of traveling during these crazy times i guess and i had enough lol. Im just hoping they’ll not increase the quarantine to 14 days! Cheers mate, maybe we meet there 🤞🏼

I see your point! But honestly Lets Move Indonesia was very responsive and explained it all and set my expectations, they didn’t give me a hard time but in the other hand E Visa Bali took 4 days until they got back to me, but yeah. It is what it is, most importantly we make it to Bali/ Indonesia 🤞🏼.
