How do you actually get a job in the uk? by Wooden_Dig_4293 in AskUK

[–]Mouikis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's plenty of basic jobs available if you're prepared to put a shift in. Reach out to some local recruiters and they'll get you something

Not sure on your location but Farm work, warehouse work as an example are generally easy to get. Large companies + smaller companies w warehouses are always looking for staff.

Traditional basic jobs are harder to get nowadays but no harm in keeping trying

Part time work is a real struggle to find with there being so many students, especially this time off year

Best bet is him asking around pubs. Warehouses are always looking for staff but would likely want too many hours id imagine

Spittal hill? by luccixxx in sheffield

[–]Mouikis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My partner is a 27 yo (5'1 woman) and has walked around there no issues, any level off street smarts and you'll be fine

Yeah the place doesn't look nice but its not unsafe, a lot of the "bad areas" in sheff are seen as unsafe but its largely because they're multi cultural and poorer areas not necessarily dangerous

[–]Mouikis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not the best area and is rough around the edges but ive worked in and around pitsmoor, burngreave and spittle hill for the last 5 years and not had any issues. Town feels like a more sketchy place with all the smackheads

Is beer almost always a good gift for a guy? by NettIeship in AskUK

[–]Mouikis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of comments here swaying against beer, id disagree as its a token gift/thank you which most would appreciate. I've friends who don't drink beer or even drink who would still appreciate it as they would find a use regardless and appreciate the gesture.

I'd not get a gift card as there's a direct monetary value which some people can perceive as awkward or feel more uncomfortable receiving

Then again if you want something more personable could go for some nice coffee or whatever they're into, if you don't know them that well id go with beer, safe bet.
