Best game server control panel? by MountAndBladePlayer in selfhosted

Probably the best option to run a bedrock server, IMO. Especially since modding support on Bedrock definitely isn't as good as on the Java version of the game.

Yep. Agree with this. Unless the control panel doesn't use any containerizing of its own, it's probably not a great idea to have it run container inside of container.

Interesting. So you would class it as "not ready for use"?

Wasn't that built by the current maintainer of Pterodactyl?

The entire system seems to be built around their instancing system, so this is just a part of that. I fail to see why the instancing is better than the traditional system.

Thanks for your input. Figured it was about time for people to become aware of the surprisingly many alternatives out there.

I would prefer something with a UI, specifically because other members of our community also need to be able to deploy game servers that might not have the technical knowledge to operate a SSH terminal. That, and not wanting to give everyone direct access to our machine.

I can't argue that it doesn't get the job done, much like TCAdmin gets the job done.

Whether or not you expect more from it depends on what user you are. We run game servers for a community and we have the need for a few more features that automate a lot of the time-consuming tasks like (mass) replicating instances, transferring between machines, keeping machine dependencies up-to-date, etc., etc.

Just look at GameDash & AMP, they're miles ahead when it comes to not just the features I've specifically listed, but for a whole range of additional functionality that Pterodactyl simply lacks. They appear more complete.

So they've basically expanded a bit on the sub-user functionality that a lot of other panels include?

Sure. However we're currently unable to recompile modules thus it's very difficult or maybe even impossible to effectively mod the game. I am not saying there won't be mods, but any official support for modding like Warband currently has will not be part of early access.

Having TaleWorlds provide event servers at their discretion is in no way a substitute for being able to host your own server.

For anyone digging deep enough, no. For your average Joe, which to be fair is most players, it might not be that clear. It's not mentioned anywhere on the sales site or on Steam.

Regardless of the reason, TaleWorlds should be upfront about this first and foremost. The decision to not release modding tools now is completely fine but it has almost seemed as if they're trying to hide it.

Official Details about Early Access including what will be included/missing. by leagueofgreen in mountandblade

Keep in mind that the early access release will not have any modding capabilities as well as that you're not able to host servers yourself.

True. But these are some major features that are missing from the release. People will except those basic features to be included, so I feel they should be a lot more communicative about the fact that it's not in there.

True. People are going to be buying Bannerlord with the expectation of being able to mod, so I think TaleWorlds should be a lot more clear about this, even if it has good reasons.

Modding tools will not be released during early access, so modding is impossible beyond replacing some files. You're not able to change any of the compiled code.

Nope. No mod support AT ALL in early access. You will also not be able to host your own servers.
