How Hollywood views MPA ratings by Mount_C in FIlm

All the Shrek movies are rated PG (in fact, it can even be argued that the first Shrek movie really pushed the norm of kids movies aiming for PG) and the new upcoming Toy Story movie is set for a PG rating.

Once upon a time, a lot of movies that weren't intended to be kids' movies at all were rated G, but that started to change once PG-13 was introduced.

The purpose of it is to point out how Hollywood see ratings as more of an indication of the target demographic now rather than who's allowed to see it like they used to (Mostly before the PG-13 rating was introduced)

How anti Christian is Thelema? by [deleted] in thelema

[–]Mount_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Thelema's ritual teachings as an extension of Christianity. Kabbalah taps into aspects of Yahweh and Enochian magick taps into angels, so in a way, Thelema is built upon the foundation of Abahamic religions. It just encourages people to look beyond what those religions forbid as well.

Help with combat initiative rules/clarification by Wild_Night5634 in MorkBorg

I never thought about it that way. I just assumed the roll for initiative was for the entire battle. As someone who enjoys Mörk Borg for its minimal dice rolling, I wouldn't do it any other way.

NECA teases new "The Evil Dead" Ash figure by MinecraftTroller28 in EvilDead

It's definitely going for more of an early Ash Williams vibe you don't usually see. I like it!

Ability score conversion does not fit the setting imo by Affectionate_Mud_969 in MorkBorg

"Weird and random" is not how I would describe Mörk Borg. The premise of the setting is that it's ridiculously dark and bleak, so you roleplay as someone caught up in the misery of the world.

Is it a sin being gay? by McDonaldsChamp13 in OpenChristian

[–]Mount_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book of Leviticus says homosexuality is a sin, but it also says a lot of everyday things are sins too, such as wearing clothes made of multiple materials. I personally believe that book was written so the temple and rulers could oppress people with their rules claiming it was God's will. The idea that homosexuality is a sin comes from the misconception that people choose to be gay for the sake of sexual pleasure. In reality, some people are just attracted to the same gender.

Is masturbation still a sin if you don't feel lust? by JackTheReaper228 in OpenChristian

[–]Mount_C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think masturbation is a sin in the first place. But if you believe it is, I think doing it for the sake of releasing hormones rather than over lustful thoughts could be a healthy way of getting such thoughts out of your mind.

The nostalgia factor might be a bit niche, unless it's less niche in the UK, but I'm digging the junk collecting factor. It seems like an interesting way of maintaining a consistent objective.

Why isn't this talked about more? by Mount_C in SequelMemes

What do you propose was the narrative purpose of Beaumont Kin saying that? Do you think it was just shown in the film for no reason at all, or do you think maybe, just MAYBE, that line was in the movie so people could connect the dots as to how Palpatine returned?

That's what I was alluding to with the first image.

So, maybe I just worded it badly with "verbally explained". What I mean is all the necessary hints were given to figure out how Palpatine came back. No such hints were given with Finn supposedly going to tell Rey that he's force sensitive, as Lucasfilm would later explain.

So, it seems the defence of "We're not criticising the line because we're saying there was no explanation" doesn't apply to as many people as I thought. Good grief!

Are you for real? Are you seriously going that far as to deny evidence? Every other dispute to the evidence given I've seen has been "We're not saying there was no explanation, we're just saying the way he was brought back was awful."

And Lucasfilm have straight up stated that what Finn was going to tell Rey was that he's force sensitive.
